Disappointed in the Town

I am starting to regret the fact that I moved my family to Granbury. I posted a question asking about Mothers day out programs, Swim lessons and ideas for a 2 year old birthday party. I never recieved any responses. I thought maybe the post did not go through at a good time that everyone reads their emails, so I even tried re-posted it another time. Still I got no response. It sadens me to know that my family and I have moved to a town that does not welcome others. I thought the purpose of this site was to seek advice from other moms that understand and can relate. We have lived in several other places before and everyone was always friendly. I hope this is not what we can expect from everyone in the town. So once again if anyone has any suggestions I will take them.

What can I do next?

I have lived in Granbury for 10 years and still feel like an outsider. People here are very clique-ish and not willing to let newcomers in. I say this in general, I'm sure not all are like this, but many are. Anyway, there are still fun things to do here with your family. Swim lessons are available at the YMCA and the public pool. Birthday parties are a little trickier, especially indoors. Gym Kats offers indoor parties, its fun too but a little expensive. Lake Granbury Montessori Academy offers 2,3, and 5 day a week programs. I highly recommend them, my daughter loves it there. Good luck and hope you can find a great place to "plug in!x :).

We moved to Granbury in Aug 09. So far everything has been pretty good, but is completely different from the small town of Mineral Wells. My daughter goes to FBC Acton for Mothers Day Out. She goes 2 days a week. There is also one at FBC Granbury and FMC Acton. The YMCA I believe has some swimming lessons.(Was told this haven't checked into it yet) As for b-day parties we had one at Jumping Party off of Acton Hwy and was told you can have them at GymKats. As for playdates I am not forsure I know there is one through our church (Stonewater Church), but I have never gone. I hope this helps a little.

I just started doing this myself, so I have never seen your request. Anyway, I don't know much about mothers day out programs...I run an in home day care to be able to stay at home with my kids. We are looking into swimming lessons and are interested in the YMCA's program and the SEAL PUPS program(I have a number if you are interested) We just do the backyard parties for now.

I live in Cleburne so don't know about the different activities for kids in Granbury. I do enjoy taking the kids and telling others about the Brazos Drive-In Movie Theater there, it's neat for them to be able to experience watching movies that not many are able to do, the website is http://www.thebrazos.com/home.htm This past December I took my kids and a couple of their cousins to Dinoworld in Glen Rose to celebrate my 4 year olds birthday, the link is http://www.dinoworld.net/ for information and then click on the Texas Park. Also there's the Pate Museum of Transportation in Cresson, don't know how much your daughter would like it but your hubby probably would. Also the Granbury square always looks busy when I've been through there, you might try asking some of the people that work there what kind of kid/family activities they know of. Hope some of these suggestions help;^)

I am sorry you have had this experience in Granbury, I have lived here for almost five years and have found the people very friendly!
I haven't heard of mothers day out programs here, but I like to get together with one of my neighbors who has a two year old and a five month old. I have an almost two year old and a three week old.
Where do you live in Granbury? I work at Chilis part time and love to work out if you are into that!
I think sometimes our questions get lost in all the questions that other people ask. I know for me, I ask questions that no one answers too. I am sure it is just hard to get to all the questions! I hope you have a better response this time!
Let me know if you would like to get together and I will email you my number!

Hi my name is T. and I too am a SAHM and live in granbury. I too have an almost 2 little girl. I too have been trying to find activities for my 2 year old and play groups. One thing that I have found is at the library they have music class at 1030 on mondays, have story time on wednsdays at 1000. I have taken my little girl to the music class and she enjoys it. Im going to try and get my daughter started in either a dance class at miss vickie's or a gymnastics class at gymkats. Also try the website cafemom its a great site to join and you get to talk to moms and even chat with ones in granbury.

I don't live in Granbury, but I have posted many times and rarely get responses (maybe 1 or 2) and I've posted 5-8 times (?) I am wondering if there's a time of the day that if you post it doesn't go on the daily email that everyone gets because I know it's never on my email that I get. Does anyone know if this is true? Maybe that's what has happened to your posts.

I do not think that there are many people on this from Granbury. I am from Tolar. There are ALOT of things for a SAHM to do with their kids in the area. I would start with the Library, for swim lessons there is the City Pool and the YMCA, which I know they both do. The YMCA might be able to give you names of people that do lessons out of their home. I have lived in the area for over 25 years and love it. For mother's day out you need to look at the churchs in town, they almost ALL have some sort of program. Sometimes you have to start lookin into things that you know the town has and they can give you advise as well. I hope that this helps.
