I am looking for a preschool for my son for the next school year. He will be 2 next month, so this will be his first preschool experience. I have looked at a few and my favorite so far is DKH Academy in Highland Village. Has anyone sent their child(ren) to DKH? I would love to hear about your experience and if you would recommend it. I also like Montessori Episcopal. I have read some good things about them on this site, but would love to hear about your experience with them as well.

What can I do next?

My kids go to MES and we love it. I have recommended it many times on Mamasource. We are so happy with it that we are planning on staying through second grade, even though we have an excellent public school in our neighborhood. Our head of school is one of the top Montessori educators in the area and teaches Montessori at two local colleges. It's simply a phenomenal school.
Good luck with your decision.

Hi C.,
My daughter who is 4yrs old has been going to MES since she was 2 1/2yrs old. We also have a son, who is 1 1/2yrs old and we plan on having him attend MES also.

What do we like about MES?
It's a great loving/learning enviroment for our kids.
The teacher turn-over rate is very LOW, which we believe is a big plus! Several teachers have worked at the school for over 20+years! I love the school's philosophy and their caring attitudes towards the children.

Another added bonus...
If you were considering a "private school" in the future, MES goes thru 1st grade and they are currently looking into continuing thru 2nd grade next yr!

I can't say enough about this school or it's teachers. They are awesome!

Good luck & take care,
E. B.

We transfered my daughter(4 yrs) there in November and she has a great time there. Everyone there is so nice and friendly. We just had our parent/teacher conference and they have done a great job on getting her ready for kindergarten next year. At the other school she went to she would cry terribly and the teacher did not do much. A few friends told me about DKH so I went and checked them out and luckily we got in. My daughter loves her teacher Mrs.Cox and Mrs.Becky( the director). My other daughter who will be 3 yr next year will be going there. I have been very happy with the school and I wish I heard about it went my oldest went to preschool last year. I truly recommend going to DKH and as my daughter says My school is a cute house with nice teachers.
Good Luck!

I'm glad to see that someone else is giving you a positive feedback on DKH. My daughter was there for the four year old pre-k in 2002-2003 during the last year of the previous ownership (assuming it hasn't changed hands again since then). If the ownership was the same as it was that year, I'd give an absolutely terrible review of it. I sincerely hope that it has really changed since then. I guess my biggest complaint was that my daughter would bring home all of these perfect little art projects that were assembled with hot glue. That told me that her teacher was doing most of the work and the use of imagination was not being encouraged. Also, academically I felt it was weak. Again, based on the previous poster's thoughts, it sounds like things are much better now.
