Do You Use a Toaster Oven?

I just bought one to make our english muffin pizzas in it. Its freaking hot here in the summers and I'm not using my oven at all. But I don't really think I can "cook" in it because there are 5 of us most days and its small. Just wondering what everyone else does with theirs if they use one. :o)

I use mine mostly to toast sandwiches. I buy sub buns, put on the lunchmeat, add a slice of cheese, pop it in the toaster oven on medium and it toasts the sandwich just like Quizno's. Once the sandwich is toasted, I add on shredded lettuce, tomato, and some Italian dressing....soooo good:)

I mostly use it for reheating. There's some leftovers that just taste yucky after being microwaved! Also, we make lots of quick cheese quesadillas with it. It doubles as our toaster since we only wanted to take up so much counter space.

It depends which type you got- the European ones are more like mini ovens and the American ones are the toaster ovens. Our Black and Decker is great! I use it to toast in the morning for English muffins, bagels, muffins sliced in half, and especially tender pumpkin bread. Since it's flat, it supports the fragile breads and it can accommodate different thickness slices. On weekends, I use it as a warming oven while I make pancakes or waffles. In the evenings, it does a dandy job on chicken nuggets, fries, or tater-tots.
I have given up on toasters in favor of the dual use toaster-oven! Enjoy!

My aunt bought me a really nice one and I didn't think I'd ever use it, but I do. We cook steaks, baked potatoes, fish, bake cookies. It's more of a mini oven than a "toaster" oven. I really like it.

I hope you get some great ideas....

I had my doubts about buying one but I absolutely love it. I make small pizzas, french fries, after school snacks, warm chicken nuggets, make garlic bread, fish etc. It has cut my use of the oven at least in half. They're pretty cheap and I promise you won't regret it!

I have had mine for 17 years and it gets used 2 or 3 times a week. We use it mostly to warm up stuff that doesn't reheat well in the microwave. But I also use it for garlic bread, chicken patties, bagels, etc.

I recommend getting the Pampered Chef (no I do not sell PC) mini bar pan to use in your toaster oven. My mini bar pan is black because I use it so much. Food turns out better when I bake/reheat on it.

i finally put mine in the donate pile. It took up too much space for how often I used it. Loved it to reheat pizza though!

I was 100% against one when my hubby had the idea....now I use it EVERY day!! I cook chicken breasts in it daily and they are sooooo juicy (i put water in the pan before cooking). I make chicken nuggets in there for the kids and toast bread for them too. Love it!

When I had one, I hardly used it but for bagel pizzas and to melt the peanut butter on toast... personally I do not think I would get one again.

My family would be lost without ours. You will be amazed at how much you use it. We primarily use it at lunchtime for chicken nuggets, frozen fish, hot dogs, frozen pizza, tater tots etc. but I have also used it to bake cookies (a few at a time) and make side dishes. We also have family of five with three teenagers so my latest toaster oven is a convection oven and is a little larger.

I have a great Kitchen Air toaster oven and we use it all the time.

My hubby balked when I got it saying we don't need it and he has since changed his tune. He said he does not believe how much we use it.

I love it.

I am a product demonstrator and bought it to use for demos. But it is really nice when taking a lasagna dinner to my son's 50 member robotics team. I bake the garlic bread and put it in a heated turkey roaster pan, and then have some extra loaves unbaked that they can make in the toaster oven as needed when the roaster pan runs low.

We have had a toaster oven since college. We used it a lot more when it was just the two of us. Great for reheating pizza. We use it for fries, chicken strips, pizza leftovers. Also for toasting up bagels, english muffins and bread. When toasting sometimes we have to put in a second batch. There are 4 of us. I also make sandwiches and heat them up in there to get the bread toasty and melt some cheese. I also bake cookies in it. I make dough ahead of time and portion out the dough and freeze it. So then it's in a plastic bag in the freezer and we can just bake enough for us to eat once. I love mine!

I bought one a while back thinking I would save money heating up the big oven to make lunch for myself and the kids. Well I never felt it functioned as a small scale oven so it fell out of favor with me fast. Then my husband got a job close to home where he can come home for lunch so lunchtime became a second dinner time for us. I finally packed it back in the box and put it away. I should probably sell it off to someone that may appreciate it.

So my vote would be to return it while you're still within the terms of the store's return policy.
