Hi all. Can anyone recommend a good Dr. in the Arlington/ Dallas/Ft. Worth area? I'm not even concerned with the Dr's specialty, I just want someone who is knowledgable about the thyroid/adrenal glands and is willing to prescribe Armour Thyroid. I have had many classic hypothyroid symptoms over the last 3 years, including weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, low body temperature, cold hands and feet, difficulty concentrating/remembering, and irregular peroids, yet my bloodwork always comes back normal. I've been to several different Dr's who want to treat me symptomatically without bothering to get to the root of the problem. Any advice, suggestions and recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

You are describing my life for the last several years. Dr. Sharon Dennis (Arlington) is the only one who has ever truly listened and helped me. I have been on her protocol for a couple of months, and am doing SO much better. I still can't lose any weight at all, but I am feeling better and finally have energy to function. Dr. Dennis is great. Let me know if you have any questions about what has been helping me.

I have had hypothyroidism for 10 years and have found Dr. Sharon Dennis, DO (a family practitioner) to be the best doctor for my condition...and I have visited renowned Endocrinologists in New York City! She has a more holistic approach to treatment and makes sure there aren't any other deficiencies that need to be treated as well. She recommended Armor Thyroid for me, and I have found it to be a wonderful alternative to Synthroid! :)

You probably need to see an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid issues- You might want to call a few and ask how many thyroid patients they see (what % of the practice is thyroid) or ask your insurance carrier who is on your plan and whether you need a referral. Then check with those endocrinologists. Most of them are going to evaluate your problem and decide what you need. Have you had a sonogram done of your thyroid?

Dr. Gerald Ray in Mansfield has been wonderful for me. I got so tired of other doctors telling me everything was "normal" when I knew it wasn't. Found him on a whim and have been pleased ever since.

Apparently you are in Arlington so I do not know how far you want to travel. I really like my doctor's office in Benbrook. The name of the clinic is Trinity Holistic Family Med. The doctor is Karen Birdy, and she is a hormone specialist. I had the same symptoms you are describing. My blood work came back borderline. She did prescribe Armour Thyroid for me.

I will tell you that you are looking at a long office wait if you want to see Dr. Birdy. That is because she listens to you. She takes the time with her patients that she needs to get to the issue. Unfortunately, this means that you will probably have to wait to see her.

Go to an OB and ask that they look at your TSH.
