You are goiin gto think this is crazy but a girl I know has 2 pugs. She shaves the top layer of hair off. You can't even tell she has done it. They do not shed after that and pugs are usually heavy shedders. Good luck!

I thought we had a lot of hair with our lab-mix dog. Then we got a dalmation, and it snows if you touch him! We've gone to keeping a sheet on the couch that we can remove and wash. I make sure to vacuum before people come over. Oh, and when I was single and my lab slept on my bed, I had an extra sheet I put over the top of my comforter for her to lay on, so that my bed wasn't covered ALL the time. As for clothes, we just change out of our work clothes when we get home from work. And I have a "no dog in the front seat" rule in the car, strictly because I just can't keep removing dog hair! I think we get enough fur in the dryer lint screen to make a coat after some loads of laundry, but we wouldn't trade our dogs for anything! :)

If you bathe him frequently (at least once a week) it will help get the loose hair off him, and look for a pet brush with rubber bristles. They grab the hair easily, and you'll need to go over him every day between bathing. I know what you're thinking (EVERY DAY?) but at least he's a little dog, right? You'll be AMAZED how much hair will come off that little dog! But PLEASE don't get rid of him just because of the hair....

I have two dogs and a cat and the only thing I can say is invest in a really good vacuum (visit one of the specialty stores) and keep a lint roller (tide has a new one that I really like) at home, in the car, at work, or anywhere else you find yourself on a regular basis.

The new Scotch brand Fur Fighter is wonderful at getting hair off furniture. I got mine at Costco. I also use slip covers on some of the furniture and wash them often.

I have 5 cats, so I know full well the hair issue. I have the furminator and it works wonders. You will just need the small, blue one. It can be pricey, but if you shop around, including online (ebay) you can find it for a good price.

We have a giant long haired German Sheppard. I understand the dog hair. Agree with previous post. I am lucky enough to have a dog groomer in the family. brush daily and groom often, however if you dog has sensitive skin like my dog the best we can do is once a month. other than that I suggest a sheet on the couch that can be quickly removed for company and a lent brush in every bathroom, car and office.

Give your dog a weekly bath and brush him/her. Also might place a towel on the couch specifically for the pet.

Those little sticky rollers work good for your clothes before leaving the house.

But some shedding is natural just like in humans- we all lose hair.

There is a special glove that you can buy at pet stores or on-line at a pet store... and you rub this over your dog and it grabs all the loose hair. There are also brushes that will do this. Just give a good brush or rub a couple times a day and it should lessen what you find on you and the furniture.

Another thing to look at is diet- are you feeding your dog a good dog food or off brand that may not have the nutrients that are really needed to maintain a healthy coat.

Frequent bathing may help as well... for little dogs once a week.

Hope this helps.

Grooming helps. Try bathing him every 2/3 weeks with a mild puppy shampoo so it does not dry his skin. Then brush daily. I'm surprised a little Chihuahua has that much hair. Get one of those tape rollers to get hair off your clothes. Hopefully the grooming will help, but I vacuum our sofas once a week. I don't know how long you have had him and whether you have gone through a whole year. Some breeds shed heavily 2x a year and then the shedding is minimal. My Besenji is like that. She has short hair similar to a Chihuahua. I put my clothes on for work right before I head out the door to minimize the hair that attaches.

Give your dog fish oil tablets. You can just get the cheap ones. They help A LOT with dander and shedding. They love to eat them too. Another thing that helps is egg yolks. Great for the coat.

We have 2 hairy shedding dogs! Just keep lint rollers for your clothes everywhere! I have on in each bathroom, the kitchen and one in my car! As for the furniture, you'll just need to be diligent about vacuuming the cushions -- and use the lint rollers on the furniture in between vacuums! Love the dogs - hate the hair! :)
