I would like some recommendations for a dog kennel in the Katy area please. I boarded my yellow lab at Wagin Tails in Fulshear and he came home sneezing and developed a fever. $434 later and 2 weeks of antibiotics he is well again.

What can I do next?

I live in CR and if your dog is cat and kid safe, and can get along with my dog (a greyhound) I would love to dog sit for you. I have two boys ages 3 and 5. I am not a pet sitter or anything just an animal nut. I have had dogs, cats, fish, birds, litter critters like hamsters and rode horses since I was a kid. We can always meet up some time for a dog meeting if you are interested. Plus, I have moved so many times and I know it canbe hard to find good pet help. And... I do not personally like boarding my pets.

We board our Jack Russell at Rover Oaks, near Katy Mills Mall. They're absolutely wonderful!

That is so wierd to hear about Wagin Tails. My sister boarded her dog there all the time and never had a problem. My vet boards animals, but I know it is not anywhere near what Wagin Tails does. My you could call them and ask them for some reccomendations. They are Kingsland Blvd Animal clinic and their number is ###-###-####. The vets there are fantastic and although I have never boarded my animals (anywhere) family that has used them has always been pleased.

God Bless!

I have no dogs so personally I have no first hand experience , but i do have some frieds that have booked their dogs at Rover Oaks. It is close to Katy Mills Mall on a back road. I am sorry I don't know the name of the road.
MY friends have used them more than once so they must be happy with the place.
Good Luck.

I always used by veterinarian. She made sure each boarded dog had an additional vaccine...for kennel cough. They only accepted well animals. Good luck.

We, too, went to WagginTails when we first moved here to have our dog groomed. He is a 5 pound teacup poodle. He was not only traumatized, he developed a staff (sp) infection in two place! We spent a fortune on getting him healed....A year later, he SILL does not have hair on his hind quarter abut the size of a fifty cent piece. Try Rover Oaks in Katy. Take a tour. It is beautiful and CLEAN. It is close to the Katy Mills mall. We are planning on using it when we go away in May. Anyone that asks me, I tell them to stay away from Wagin Tails.

I can't remember the name of it or the road it's on but I think it's called Rover Oaks??? It's near the KatyMills mall on the backside of the mall area. Go BEHIND the mall (the 'back road') as if you're going towards 99 from the mall (headed away from the mall) & it's just there on the left where all the roadwork is going on on that backroad. Again, the name of it escapes me but it seems to be a nice one. We don't have dogs but perhaps you can ck it out & see what you think.
