When I consign some of my kids clothing at the end of the consignment sale they donate the clothing to a battered women's shelter in Denton: http://www.dcfof.org/test.asp.
They are always in need to children clothing and toys.

I am looking for a place that I can go and donate my families used clothes and my daughters toys. I have a place here in town that I can do that but I really want to take it some place that needy families get it. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. (DFW area)
Thanks!!

I go to Allen Community Outreach. They are a good local organization.
Hi!
I would suggest the Salvation Army at Harry Hines- they do a wonderful work with everyone- abused women/kids and men including veterans who do not have any help from family or government. It is a beautiful work.. Anything you have to donate is huge for them..
Thanks
K.
Kathryn - The Vineyard Church in Lewisville helps the homeless in Dallas. Once a month they feed and clothes as many people as they can. They need all sizes for women and children and slimmer sizes for the men.
The Vineyard is located on the east side of I-35. Take the 407/Justin exit. Cross the railroad tracks and the Vineyard is in the first strip center on the left. When facing the center, it is on the left side.
Please contact Pete at: 972 / 436 - 6840
They will greatly appreciate your contributions!
Most cities have an outreach
like allen has the Allen Community outreach
check in your area
If not there are a lot of foundation like leukemia and cancer that will come and pick the stuff up from your door
Last year I called the Collin County Advocacy Center, www.cacplano.org. They support abused women and children. They even picked my stuff up or they have a few drop locations in Plano.
I know these may not be exactly what you're looking for, but hopefully, it helps:
Christian Community Action (CCA) - www.ccahelps.org Although most of what's donated is sold in one of their local resale stores, local residents in need are also given vouchers to "shop" the stores, so some actual people are getting the clothing. Items that we consider "unwearable" (stained, super out of date, etc.) are sent to other countries which have greater need. Drive through drop off just south of Mill/Main in Lewisville.
Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home http://www.cpch.org/donate-goods.html They only accept "new or gently-used clothing for children, teens and adults (items that cannot immediately be recognized as having been worn)" but I believe that's because they're going straight to the children and teen parents at their facility. Also, "Items... with significant wear and tear are given to other non-profits with the capability to use such donations."
Denton County Friends of the Family www.dcfof.org Like CCA they accept donations, which are sold at their resale store in Denton. "Here, clients and their families are provided opportunity to shop for both personal and household needs. The store is also open to the community. Proceeds from
community shoppers benefit agency programs."
Good luck!

plano first presbyterian church on jupiter road between 14th and 18th streets had a clothes closet at one time. look up the church telephone number in the telephone book and give them a call :)
I just donated a bunch of things to Crossroads Community Service. It is an outreach program at First United Methodist Church in downtown Dallas. They help families who have jobs, but may not have steady income or are having a hard time. It was super easy for me to drop everything off and she was so thankful as their supply was running low.
Call Jean Jacobs at ###-###-#### X 403. She can tell you more about the program and you can decide if that's the avenue you want to go.
Captain Hope's Kids - http://www.captainhope.org/
They do pick-ups in my neighborhood (NE Dallas) once a month. I don't know where you are located (edit - I see now that you're in The Colony), but you can email or call them to find out if a driver comes to your area.
Family Gateway - http://www.familygateway.org
They are located downtown in the Swiss Avenue historic district. I don't know if they have drop-offs in other parts of DFW. I drive downtown to drop my stuff off and they're always so appreciative.
My church does a garage giveaway. They have a drop off day in November. You can get more info at www.mcfbc.org
