Double Stroller to Hold Larger Kids

Hello there. I am looking for a double stroller that holds more then 40 pounds per seat. At times it is unreal to ask a 3 year old to walk all the time. All the double strollers we had (Graco, sit-n-stand) pretty much held up to around 40 pounds and then started to bend.
I am asking for myself as well as a neighbor who has an autistic 4 year old, and a 2 year old.
Thank you Very much for any help or direction.

I have twin boys that will be 5 the end of Nov. and they still won't walk cooperatively all the time. Unfortunately I couldn't find a good stroller either. I suggest going to wal-mart and getting a wagon. I paid I think it was $63.00 and it has a storage compartment in it and cup holders. Problem solved. Then when they do want to walk you dont have to worry about someone trying to climb out and falling either. Good luck

I have a double jogger stroller if you'd be interested in buying it. My kids have outgrown it now. I believe my son, who was about that size, rode in it. I looked at the documentation at it said that after 100 lbs. total it starts to wear. If you'd be interested, just send me an email at: ____@____.com

Thanks,

Macclaren Strollers have the highest weight limit out there I believe. They are spendy though. I was lucky and found one at a thrift store and the weight limit is 55lbs I believe for a one seater. It's like a light weight umbrella stroller but so much better. My daughter is 5 and 45lbs. I had her in it all day today at the Mall of America she doens't cooperate all the time and can't make it all day walking so I love it. I know they have double strollers as well. Try babie's r us. It's totally worth the money. I'm saying this as I've owned over 5 strollers with my daughter. We've had a Graco, Peg Perego, Combi, and cheap umbrella strollers. I also have a wagon I love to use but it's hard to fit in my car so I use it only at fairs, parades that sort of thing.

My son has autism, and is five, and aside from using a wagon on longer walking outings some of our friends who also have older kids w/Autism or other developmental issues use on of the pull-behind bike trailers -- you know, the yellow ones. You can also use them as a stroller when you reach your biking destination and they work very well for older kids or those with disabilities. (In my experience -- the stand along models haven't worked well for the kids I know on the spectrum, for your friends info -- they get tired of standing & figitiy). There are larger stollers made for people w/disabilities, availible through catalogs, however, they are very expensive when you get to the larger weight models -- upwards of three hundred dollars. (I know for sure because we looked into it)
Good luck!

I don't know about you but your friend should check with her school or her county to help with finding a stroller. Then maybe she can let you know about it. I have a special needs daughter and she gets PT and OT now and will start special ed at the school when she turns 3. I always go through her PT and OT for things that I need for her. There are companies like Abilitations that have websites you can look at. I know that we have a McClaren stroller that the school is letting us borrow for my daughter. Maybe they have larger 2 seaters too. I would find their website and check, they are pretty spendy though.
Good luck to you both,
J.

what we did was got rid of the double stroller and got a red flyer-wagon... this provided ample enough room fo rthe two kids... we have a 5 and 4 year old.... also to carry things we put a back pack attached to the outside of the wagon to hold things... (wrapped the straps around the sides.) also as they get bigger it is great when you go on picnics... they can pull each other or your threeyearold can pull your little one and he has a great time being a big brother....

I'm using a Sit-N-Stand stroller made by Baby Trend and totally recommend it. My daughter just started to get really active (she turned two) when my young one was born. Your son being 3 years old, I think you'll find the stroller very useful. Since the older kid has an option to either sit or stand, it's so easy to move around with two children because the older one never really gets bored. Easy because it doesn't take any time for the older one to get out of the stroller. The baby sit is actually not that comfortable, but I'm very satisfied with this stroller.
