Hey Moms,

I'm looking for your opinions on the Droid Phone from Verizon. I'm due for a new phone and can get a special offer on a Droid so I'm trying to decide if I should get it or just keep my old phone. My old phone is the Blackberry Storm and it has been a pretty good phone, although not perfect. Any thoughts on Droid or how it compares to Blackberry Storm?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My hubby has the Droid and I seriously don't know how he lived without one for 38 years. :o)
His battery life has been good. He plugs it in at night on the charger stand. His is also the alarm clock and the GPS and mp3 player, his Google wherever we are, the phone book, a camera.

I've had my Droid for about a year and I absolutely love it! I don't honestly know how I went so long without one lol. For the lady who said her husband and SIL's call people all the time, are they using direct dial buttons on their home screen? If so, maybe they should change them to one of the other screens (I had the same problem and that was my solution). I love being able to check facebook and my email whenever wherever. The touch screen works amazingly well, and the app market has some awesome apps (my DH is addicted to Angry Birds). Also, an absolute life saver for me is the Google Maps! It has built in Navigation and I use it on an almost weekly basis. Love love love this phone!

I have the first Droid and I LOVE it. Get the new phone, it's at least a new phone and less likely to malfunction. I LOVE everything it can do. I can even check my online school site with it. I've got a few free games that the kids can play, memory , puzzle , and search and find type games. Great for long waits at the Drs office.
Another few cool apps
Keyring, know all those little discount cards you have on your key ring , you can scan them into your phone with the camera and throw them away. The only ones that don't work to be scanned from the phone screen are Best buy and the gas pumps at Kroger ( the angle is wrong for the pumps).
Shopsavvy, Scan an item's bar code and get prices for it at other stores around your location and online.
Shazam, ever wonder that that song is on that commercial or on the radio? just start up shazam , let it hear the song and it will identify it and pull up tour information for that artist.
Skype calls free from your phone , great for overseas calls.
Google Sky Map, "mom what's that star?" No problem, boot up google sky map and point it at the star, " nope sweetie , that's not a star that's mars"
search for planets and certain stars using it as well.
Last Fm internet radio for when the radio quits out on long trips.
Urbanspoon, this is great for when you don't know where you want to go out for dinner.

I have a Droid and I LOVE it. It is a great phone w/ some really great features. Mine has a 5mpxl camera and an MP3 player as well as 16GB of built in memory. I say go for it...if for some reason you don't like it you can reactivate your storm and sell the Droid.

My husband has had both. The droid is so much better than the storm. We actually like the tour and the curve better than the storm though with the blackberries. Go to the store and play with the droid though. You will love it. Everyone I know that has one totally loves it.

I'm with everyone else. Go for the Droid. There's an app you can get so you can still BBM your BB friends! LOL..I laugh becoz I don't have any of these phones. Mine is just a old smartphone from Motorola..but I've been researching and I'm definitely going with a Droid for my upgrade.

My husband, son and SIL have had nothing but problems with their Droids. My husband uses his for business and it constantly dials people on it's own and they can listen to his conversations. Verizon has been unable to fix this nor will they give him a new phone even though he has the insurance! My SIL's just started doing that as well. My son is on his 4th Droid in one year. Sorry to be the naysayer here...All the problems started after about 4-6 months.

I have had my Droid for a year and my only complaint is the battery life. I have to have it on a charger by noon of course I use it for everything & I hardly get on my PC cause of it.
It has plenty of apps you can download for free or pay for. It has been great when my kids get bored somewhere & they can watch a movie or play a game.

I LOVE my droid I have only had it for a few months though. I love my phone. The pictures are GREAT the video is GREAT the web is GREAT. There is a lock on it though so im not sure how the previous poster said it pocket dials???? It takes some getting used to but once you get used to it its just great. The video on it is great too i have how to train your dragon on it for the kids and have others on my computer to switch it up a bit. Im sure the battery life will die down like every other phone. The new batteries for it aren't that expensive. The charger it comes with is either for the wall and for the computer its great. I thought I had to get a new car charger and everything but the car charger for my old lg envy works so i was very happy to hear that. I have the droid incredible by htc there are different versions which have different reviews. I love my droid!

Go into a Verizon store and try playing with the Android Phones. I know a lot of people who were "crackberry" addicts and switched and haven't looked back. My husband has the original Motorola Droid and wouldn't give up the Android platform ever. I just got the Droid X and I was hesitant about the whole no keyboard but I'm really ok with it. You will find yourself charging your phone far more than you ever did, it's the nature of the phones. I plug mine in when I'm at home and have the battery saver enabled at night. I've also learned that you really do have to do a full reboot at least every other day to make it work smoothly (meaning turning the phone off for a minute and restarting it). I too don't understand how a phone will just dial since you always have to "unlock" by sliding your finger across the screen on any of the Motorola phones but maybe the others don't work this way. I went from a qwerty keyboard on an LG Env2 so I'm not sure how it compares to the Blackberry but the applications you can download are great. And Google Maps means having your GPS in your hands.
