Easy Ways to Pottie Train

She is super young. I certainly don't believe that children need to be 3 before you start to train them, but the problems you are encountering are probably due to her age. You may want to visit your pediatrician for advise dealing with your specific problem or for when to start training. Potty training is never easy but waiting until the child shows most or all the signs of readiness helps. Good luck!

15 months is way too young!!!! Most current studies on childrens biology is that they arent fully capable of control over bowel and urine till age 4-5. so training them starting at 3 is recommended. There is absolutely no reason kids need to be potty trained early, its an old idea from ages ago. 15 months is crazy i barely introduced my kid to the potty at 18 months but it was just to get her used to it. she is 3 now and fully in control during the day with minimal accidents. she cant hold it for more than 3 mins. Stop the potty training and wait till she is about 2 then buy a small toddler potty and get her used to the idea and let her explore. Also have her in the bathroom any chanc you have cause seeing is learning. she will watch and see what you are doing and mimic it. It will take a year or so to gether to not pee her pants during the day and still have to wear pullups at night. at 3.5-4 yrs old you can try nighttime control It helped with my first child.

I started with my daughter at 15 months, and she was in trainer at 18. She was fully trained (including night) at 22 months.

BTW, don't listen to the stuff about them not being physical able at that age. Prior to 1960, 90% of ALL Kids (boys and girls) were trained by 18 months. There is a 'training window' that makes training young easy if you catch it. In fact, around the world, most kids are trained prior to age 2. The stuff about them not being physical ready was the result of a study by a researcher paid by the Pampers company. It's just not true. Yes, some kids don't have the control until later, but many have it much earlier, and if their parents are willing to teach them about timing, they can train at a very young age. And just let me say, the smile on my daughter's face when she takes herself to the potty? Priceless. She feels like such a big girl and is so darn proud of herself.

As to her having a hard time, I don't know. My daughter usually goes pee and then goes poop about 10 minutes later. For the first few months, I let her run around naked, and now, if she is having a hard time going, she gets off the potty and "runs around" until she really needs to go. The running around gets things moving and she will almost immediately run back to the potty to go.

I waited until my children expressed an interest in going on their own. My daughter was almost 2, my son was 4. In both cases, it was one of the easiest things I ever did...basically they did it themselves. It's so much easier when they are ready and want to do it.

15 months is probably too young to start-I sat my daughter on the potty just to introduce the idea t 16 mos and she peed the first time-she didn't have a clue! It was a fluke-both of mine were potty trained by 2.5 years-one was in diapers overnight until she was 4 and the other was just over 2 1/2-which was great. Dont push her, I also read if you wait until they are 2 it will go much faster.

I have never heard of a 15 mo. old potty training. Both of our children were potty trained right around 2 yrs. old - but not earlier. She's straining because she doesn't understand yet what to do. During this next year, just teach her to sit on her potty when you go to the restroom also and have her relax, not strain. If she tee-tees or does anything else, YIPPEE! But if not, she is just starting to learn what she needs to do. Typically this is not something they can control until two years old. We all want to get rid of those diapers immediately, but if try to rush this too much you'll actually have a worse time with her training and it will take longer. IF you are just talking about pooping in her diaper being difficult because she's constipated and straining - have her eat more fruits and veges.

she's a little baby still, you could traumatize her....the easiest way to potty train a child is when the child says "mommy i have to go potty".......but grape juice is a great laxative, give that to her for her constipation

the muscle control is different when balancing on the potty, versus standing or whatnot in a diaper, so it is hard. I just trained my 28month old daughter and she often has to sit for like 20 min before the #2 comes out b/c she has to sit long enough to relax all the muscles.

We waited till she was telling us that she had to pee/poop in the diaper before we trained her (we introduced the little potty ~23months, but did not train till 28 months). Our pediatrician said it is common for the child to be interested in it and then not... our daughter did that a few times before she trained for real.

I know there are folks who "potty train" their babies, but isn't that really just training the parents to watch for the cues and jump into action on command!? my philosophy is to train the child, not the parent

Do you mean she's having a hard time being trained? Or having a hard time going #1 or #2? She seems a little young to be trained, unless she wants to do it. My daughter was interested at 15 months, but didn't actually decide to do it until she was 2 1/2. She could NOT be forced, either. At about a little over 24 months, we decided we were done, unless she decided to do it completely on her own. And she did!

15 months old is too young to potty train. The best indicator of potty training being successful is the child's willingness. Most kids aren't ready until around 2, some when they are 3. So don't rush it, she will be there before you know it!

15 months-REALLY! She is way too young-she will do it when she is ready not when u want her too. My daughter did it in a day-she was almost 3 1/2 -YES i said 3 1/2, but it was no stress and easy on both of us. Lay off-she is too young. L.:)

Not at 15 months. Have you spoken to her pediatrician? Kids this young are not physically ready to potty train. The more you push it, the harder time you will have when it is really time to potty train. Why don't you take a break and when you go to the 2 year check up, ask?

One piece of information that may ease some of the pressure off you is the average boy is potty trained at 39 months. The average girl is potty trained at 36 months.
