I have struggled with anger issues for a long time, but have not had an "outburst" in several years until last Saturday night. I had had alot of things build up and never talked about it... then my husband wouldn't do something small I asked him to do and it just set me off. Now, my kids were in bed & asleep and had no clue anything was going on; but, nonetheless, this "outburst" scared my husband and myself and I am now looking into getting some help. I have NEVER harmed my children, and don't ever want to take that chance... if anyone knows of some anger management classes or a good, solid, CHRISTIAN counselor that could help me for little or no money that would be awesome!

I really appreciate all the help and WONDERFUL advice!! My husband and I are learning to communicate better... and when I feel myself getting overwhelmed I go take a nice HOT bath and have some "mommy ONLY" time. I put on some soothing music and just let everything melt away... afterward my husband and I talk about everything and it has been SO much better!! Thank you everyone! My husband and I have been to Ed a few times over our 11 yr marriage and he is wonderful and you do not have to be a church member to get in to see Ed. The last time we went there was also no charge for his help.
I don't have any advice or know of anyone who can help but I just wanted to say KUDOS TO YOU! It is awesome that you recognized your problem and are doing something about it. Take care of yourself and Good Luck!
As someone who has had anger issues too, I applaud your willingness to admit you need help. One thing that has helped avert my anger is to talk about everything, even little things, as they come up. This keeps them from building up to an explosion! If some things are bothering me and I don't talk about them, they bother me until I say something. And saying something to my husband doesn't cost me anything, financially or emotionally.

Good for you for seeking help! I agree that you should try talking about everything so that you can hopefully avoid those "build ups". Another thing you might try is journaling. Have a journal where you write down and discuss these things that make you angry and then conclude each time with what you are going to do to make it better. Note - this is what YOU are going to do, not what you are going to make someone else do or what you are going to tell someone else. This should be about you and your actions. You can't change other people's behavior. Only your own behavior.
A long time ago I went to a counselor with Rapha Counseling or something like that. They are christian and were really good. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name or any other information.
You've made the first step by admitting that there is a problem.
I know of a Christian counselor located in Cedar Hill. I know she takes insurance and when I went it wasn't much after insurance paid. If you want her information, send me a message and I'll give it to you.
