Hi D.!! I have twins also, girls who are 5 y.o. I don't really remember too much about the flutters vs. a lot of kicking, but I remember that there was not much room in there for them to move around either.
Good luck to you!!!
Hello all. I am new to the group. I have a couple of questions. First off, I am approximately 18 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins..It is my 3rd pregnancy. I have a healthy son and daughter. My concern is that I only feel small flutters once in awhile. With my other 2 I remember feeling them kicking me constantly around the 16th week. The babies were both healthy 2 weeks ago and I saw their hearts beating at the ultrasound. Do twins just have a tendancy to lay more dormant? I worry constantly that something is wrong. Can someone please ease my mind? I have another ultrasound in a week, but I am worried that something is terribly wrong.
I also am extremely scared to bring two more babies into this world. Is that a normal feeling? I am a great mother, but I feel so horrible because I can't be as happy as I want to be expecting twins.
Okay, I went to my ultrasound today..luckily it was rescheduled at the last minute. Both the babies are perfectly fine! I am not as far along as we thought, so their movements are still minimum. It was quite a relief to listen to their heartbeats for the first time today. I thank everyone who responded to my request.

I have 3 1/2 year old twin daughters and I know how you feel. my daughters were also my thrid pregnancy I had 2 older sons they were 2 and 4 when I had my daughters, They never moved in the beginning either my docter said it was because they were smaller than normal babies cause there are two of them and they have less room to move to so they move later than single babies. I felt the same way you do I couldn't enjoy my pregnancy as much as I did before cause I was scared to death about having twins. I eventually did enjoy the pregnancy once I knew that everything was gonna be fine.My daughters were born 7 and half weeks early and they spent 12 days in hospitals before coming home they weighed 4 pounds and 3 pounds when they finally came home they are healthy and doing great now they just started school and they are right where they are supposed to be for thier age . If you have any other questions about twin pregancy feel free to contact me cause like I said I know how you feel.

Hi! I have 9 year old twins. I did notice less movement, especially towards the end. I worried all the time. Anyway, It is not easy especially the first year. I had a 2 year old when the twins were born. They were a lot of work but so much fun. Try to enjoy this time to spend with your other children.

I have twins and was very upset that I didn't get to feel them move as much as I expected! I had the same experience. They don't have as much room to swim around. But as they start getting really cramped, you will start feeling them "fighting". I also think it is funny how one will be awake and you will feel that one for awhile, then you will feel the other one!!! I hope that I will have a singleton baby in my lifetime so I can experience the "swimming"...but you won't get much of that...they just don't have the room.
Hi, D.. I have 21 month old twin girls. I can completely relate to everything you are feeling. First of all, it took a while for me to feel them moving the way I was supposed to. I did not feel them until I was 20 weeks. And even then it was not constant. If I went even an hour without feeling them move, I would panic. I had several complications throughout my entire pregnancy so I was worried about everything that didn't go as perfectly as they said it was supposed to go. I can also relate to how you are afraid of bringing 2 more babies into the world. When my twins were 1 I found out I was 2 months pregnant. I did nothing but cry for the next couple of months. I was afraid because I already hd 2 little ones. You will be a little better off since you are due in the summer. My twins were 19 months old when my new baby was born in December. I am now stuck in the house and winter weather is driving me nuts. Your 3 litte ones will be close in age just as mine are. Just make sure once you have them, you keep going. Even if you take them outside into your backyard... just keep doing things and you will be fine. It will not be easy at first, but you will get used to it and you will be fine. If you even need to "talk" let me know, I can totally relate to taking care of 3 little ones!!!
HI D.
Congrats on the twins. i had twin boys with my third pregnancy too. Dont worrie to much about the little kick there is not alot of room in there so they dont move much when they get this far along just mention it to your dr when you go in.
First off congrats on your twins!! I have 6.5 month old twin girls. I did not feel them really kick until about 22 weeks. Around 18-19 weeks all we were getting is flutters as well too. People think you feel more with twins and sometimes you don't because there is less room. I was so scared about bringing two babies into this world, they are my first. Now that I hve them though it is wonderful and they are great little girls. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions. Where do you live? We live in South Brunswick.
Hi D. - check out www.Sidelines.org - they have online chat boards for complicated (multiple) pregnancies - people will have warm resonses to your concerns.
Remember that at this age twins are smaller in size, and they have less room. I am sure that what you are feeling is probably normal, but if you are still concerned call your OB to double check. :) Good luck with your pregnancy!
I think the activity you feel with twins is a lot different
because they don't have much room so there kicks are not going to be as strong. ALso I think its totally normal to feel so overwhelmed. I am the aunt of twins AND triplets. But you will get through - just make sure to accept the help that is offered
