Since I've been laid off in september, job hunting has been very overwhelming. And now that we recently found out we are expecting, I'm really trying to find a way to bring in extra income. Something that can be permanent. I've heard from several people about the wellness company but its not my style. I would prefer not to have to pay a sign on of $100 to get paid. But at this moment anything may work. With your sincere honesty, what have you done and how long and did it help. I've also been looking into becoming a virtual assistant. I really need some ideas and HELP

The first year I sold my son's clothing on ebay, I was able to put $1K on our beach house rental. Seriously, if you have outgrown clothes that are in great condition and nicer brands, they will sell like hotcakes on ebay!

I babysat for friends and that was decent money. I helped a repo man "spot cars" and that was decent money. I've also gone through a temp agency on days when my kids didn't need me. Other than that I have tried anything else.

Look around your house at collectibles that you really don't "need", clothes and toys you and your children have outgrown and list them on ebay and craigslist...that can be fast money.

There are companies that hire virtual assistants. Hiremymom.com is one. I believe you have to pay a fee for their assistance - I'm not sure - but it's something to look into!

When I needed extra income I started blogging and writing free knitting patterns and tutorials. I made money with advertising. It wasn't much but I also only spent about 2 hours a week on it so it wasn't that serious.

This may be so not what you're looking for but I woud suggest start extreme couponing. I started 8 months ago and what I do is I get everything and ANYTHING i can for free or as cheap as possible and then I re-sale it at 1/2 of retail price. Whenever I see that I have a pretty large amount of items, then i have yardsales, at my last yardsale I made $550 and invested MAYBE $50......so I know it may sound crazy but it really does work. If you're interested pm me and i can give you allllll the detail cause i don't wanna type it all out if you're not interested lol.....good luck!! :)

I have been making extra money each month with Scentsy. It has been such a blessing! I stared in Dec 08 and I still just love it. The extra income I have made with Scentsy has helped out so much. I just paid off my pickup with that money and it helps to just keep up on our bills each month, and some months it gives us a little extra just for fun. I would be happy to give you more info on Scentsy just email me ____@____.com

As for me, I do balloons and face painting at birthday parties on the weekends. I also sell handmade jewelry on etsy and ebay as well as other things like clothes, vintage items... Some months are great. About 2 years ago, I made over $10,000 in one year. But lately, business has been pretty dead due to the economy I am guessing.

I just started selling thirty- one and can't believe how easy it is. I have made quite a bit because the product totally sells itself. You do have to pay $100 to start and get your kit but I love the stuff and use it between shows. I would be happy to share more... :0)

The "income opportunities" which you have pay to start up--with a $50 or $100 fee--are almost all rip-offs. I knew someone who signed up to put kits together... paid $50 for materials, and nothing he sent in was ever considered good enough, so he was just out the fee plus the shipping. Pure profit for them, rip-off for him.

I know several who find selling various items lucrative--from Mary Kay to Avon, jewelry to home interior items--but that would involve party planning and quite a bit of selling... one has to have the right aptitude for this (and I know I don't).

What is your expertise? That would help you figure out what online or home work might suit you best, especially with a little one on the way...

E.,
Congratulations. Babies are such a blessing. Sometimes that's hard to remember when you're up at 2 am with them. :-)

I've taken care of mom for several years. She's 90 and no longer independent. It's a 24/7 responsibility and it's all mine. So I need a way to work from home, too.

I found a wellness company that I love. I'm a customer and a distributor. Since it's my own business and not a job, there is an investment to get started. But, the cost to start my own business from-scratch would be much higher. And I got my money's worth and more ... products, websites, distributor kit, corporate training, other distributors to share ideas and experiences with, ongoing support and much more.

You can see the company I'm with if you go to my profile and click the Business tab. You don't say why the wellness company you heard about is not your style. I can tell you that from my 7 years experience with one company, there are many ways to run my business. I have never done a home party ... That's not MY style. :-) I work mostly online and on the phone. And I don't spend my day making cold calls from a purchased list. People call ME.

There are many companies to choose from, just be sure it's an established company with a good reputation and top quality products. Do your research and make sure it's legal and ethical.

Best of luck to you, E.. I hope you find just the right company to partner with.

Do you have a hobby you can creatively do to make money or a special skill? I teach ballet in my home. You can also teach spanish, crafts or tutor. You can babysit, scrapbooking, sell things on eBay etc. I'm a customer for a wellness company and I get checks every month from referring my family and friends along the way. I don't like doing it as a business so I don't although I'm tempted. But it's not my thing. But I do like teaching and selling on eBay. Let us know what you decide to do. I wish you the best and congratulations on your newest little one!!
