Hi, I'm relatively new to the metro, living in the Southwest suburbs, and I can't find a family-friendly pizza restaurant with delicious pizza! I'm looking for the kind of restaurnat that really specializes in pizza, with parmesan cheese & pepper flakes at the booths, restrooms with changing tables, perhaps a pinball machine or pool table... and most importantly, fantastic pizza. I'd love to find a place that is family-owned, not a big national chain, and I'd REALLY like to find a place where the kids can watch the pizza being made, crust thrown in the air, etc. Do places like that exist around here??
There is Carbonne's in Lakeville. It's at Ceadar Ave and 160th Street. Very family friendly and great pizza. No flying dough. :)
Have you tried Davanni's? We usually get take out from there but I see families in there ALL the time - not sure about the changing tables in the bathrooms - but it is family friendly in my opinion! They are located all over - Edina, & Minnetonka come to mind for SW Metro.

Sorry to disagree with one of the other Moms who responded, but Chuck E Cheese is not your best bet for good pizza. But I do strongly agree with the one who recommended DaVanni's. They have great pizza, and are family friendly, with crayons and placemats to color. They are a local place too with quite a few locations around the metro, but they're not a franchise. My kids and I love their pizza, and their hot hoagies. Their cookies and brownies are delicious too.
The best pizza, in my opinion, is Punch. They have a location in Eden Prairie, along with a few other locations. The owners live in Edina, so it is a local business. They serve proper Italian pizza. I brought my best friend, who used to live in Italy, and she was quite impressed. Meryl Streep rated it the best pizza she's ever had, when she tried it whilst here filming.
I just read the other responses and Davanni's is the caliber of McDonald's. If you want a more American pizza, you can't go wrong with Pizza Luce. You don't see the pizza being made there, but they are great with kids. The closest location to the SW suburbs is the Uptown Minneapolis location, which I believe is at about 32nd & Lyndale.
Davanni's has good pizza and hoagies with the parmesan and pepper flakes! I don't remember seeing people throwing dough in the air, but it is good stuff.

CiCi's is one of our new favorite places. I wouldn't say the pizza is the best EVER, but it is a lot of fun and it's all you can eat for 4.99. There are TVs, an arcade, and our 3 year old loves the variety of pizza, pasta and salad. There cinnamon rolls are amazing. (Although, I don't want to see the nutritional content of them!)
I'm not sure where a Savoy's is in SW Metro, but they have AWESOME pizza! And they're a smaller, family owned place. I have seen a couple more locations lately.
I second Cici's in Eagan - it's made of awesome. We'd eaten at their restaurants in Orlando, but were thrilled to find one up here.
They always have Noggin' on their TV (which is kind of funny!), but they have a game room, clean restrooms, fabulous pizza at great prices.
The buffet also has salad, pasta & chicken noodle soup. Pizza toppings range from standard pepperoni & sausage to the more interesting like macaroni & cheese (surprisingly good!), buffalo chicken and mexican.
It's one of our son's favorite places to go!

Well, we own a pizza place, we just opened up late January. We used to own a franchise but sold it back in 2006 and now we are totally independent. We are 100% family owned and operated. And we toss the pizzas by hand,which you can watch while you are waiting.. No sheeters for us or premade crusts like most pizza places do. But we are only take out and delivery and we are south suburbs-Burnsville. www.lspizzashack.com We do have a couple of pub type tables that seat 2 for those just eating quick.
I dont know of any places that you can actually the dough fly but here are a few suggestions
**Cici's in Eagan--its a buffet $4.99/adults+ drink kids under 3 FREE. They do have a small game room. The pizza is good, it includes pasta and sald and all you can eat...they sing fun songs when the pizza comes up.
**Chuck E cheeses is always fun with lots of games, not exactly a small home town place but hey its cheap.
**Bonfire (they serve all types of food), the kids can actually make their own pizza (roll the dough, add toppings and wtach it being cooked).
**Italian Pie Shoppe (Eagan or Grand Ave) they have wonderful pizza and it reminds you of a little italian place, no games that I am aware of but great food.
Broadway Pizza in applevalley (I've never been, but heard its good)
