Golden nugget has a shark tank pool. The pool & slide appear that you are actually swimming side by side with the Sharks. Google it and take a look.

As for where to eat, yes many of the buffets are now expensive. You will just have too look online or call for prices. You may find better meal prices off the strip or if you are not looking for specific food, there are plenty of TGIF's, Denny's, I think Applebee's and other commercial restaraunts on the strip. If you stay downtown as opposed to the strip, you can find plenty of restaraunts in the area that are not buffets. Downtown is older but you can ask them when they last renovated, as many of them have.

I think there's a common misconception that Vegas is all casinos, showgirls and wedding chapels. Not true! It's like saying NYC is all Times Square, gay bars and homeless people!

Vegas is a great place for kids. I would take my kids to Vegas before I would ever take them to Disney! Circus Circus has Circus shows, Mirage has dolphins and tigers, MGM has lions, Mandalay Bay has sharks, the M&M and the Coca Cola stores are fun, every hotel has a great pool, many hotels have roller coasters and other amusement rides.

I loved the Cravings Buffet at the Mirage. It was expensive, but I would definitely splurge for one meal.

Mandalay bay has a bunch of pools and they'd love it. It's pricey though. Excaliber is pretty cheap and has a medevial theme. Both are on the Strip. Most of the newer hotels have decent pools. New York New York has a roller coaster on the top and I think stratosphere does too.

The buffets might have kid prices. We hated the buffet at Excalibur. New York New York has a food court I think. Have fun!

Almost every casino has something fantastic for the kids to see. Bellagios nightly fountain show. The forum shops at Caesar's Palace has a great indoor "sky" and has a fountain with characters that come to life. The list goes on.

They also have a really cool kids science museum that's near downtown (i.e., near Fremont Street).

Have fun! There is lots for kids to do there. Probably because it's a huge city and lots of kids (lots!) live there.

We went to Riolyte (I think that's what it was called) and Red Rock Canyon. Do your kids like wild burros?

There are tons of malls and shopping centers in Vegas. Each one has an affordable mall type restaurant. We also had breakfast at McDonald's where the pancakes wouldn't cost $14.00 for 3 (not a typo). Also Walgreens had great salads and sandwhiches which were affordable, simple and delicious.

Your kids may enjoy Madame Toussads Wax Museum. There is a great free show over in Ceasar's Palace the kids are sure to enjoy. Lord knows I did and I'm a big kid at heart.

One of the off the strip time share locations would be my go to if I had to find a more kid friendly pool type situation.
