We use California Baby. It's organic and doesn't have the crazy ingredients that most others do. It is a bit pricey though. I think it rubs in well and isn't too greasy.
Hi Ladies,
Before I waste another $30 on sunscreen that's okay (bought three last year -- Johnson & Johnson, which was super thick, the Neutragena baby stick, and another I can't remember), I thought I'd ask what brands of sunscreen you all like best. Just got a new Aveeno one (spf 30, says all natural, but kids seemed to burn through it even though we were only outside less than a couple of hours). I like the sticks for faces -- my boys are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 -- but the Neutrogena one I got last year left white marks that I ended up rubbing in anyway.
What do you use? I'd like something with a more lotion-like feel that rubs in faster than the boys can get away! And if you know of any other sticks, that was great, too:) I'd also welcome any other tips and tricks -- I try to make it a game, but they still don't love to sit still when they're pumped about getting outside NOW!
Thanks!

I like the Banana Boat spray can. It's a very fine mist that you spray all over them. (Tried the Water Babies, but it sprays clumps of lotion that you have to rub in.) I can spray my boys very quickly, so that they can get to play much faster. I can also spray myself pretty well, which is good becaue I am very fair skinned.
A lot of the name brand sunscreen are not best.. its scary what we dont know about sunscreen.. check out this site, do some research before you put a "name brand" or a cheap cream on your baby!!!

I like Waterbabies stick for faces (both mine and the kids) and use Target brand waterproof aerosol sunscreen for our bodies. Both are clear and go in in seconds. Also, no rubbing required.
I love Shaklee's because I find that it KEEPS working after a long time on the skin. It goes on smoothly, not goopy. Sounds like what you are looking for.
Both my daughters are very fair, swim outside everyday in the summer for swim team, and we take frequent trips to the Carribbean so I have a lot of sunscreen experience! On our last trip which was at the equator, they used Banana Boat Sport Performance which has an SPF of 100 and is water and sweat resistant and they didn't get sunburned for once! It does take some rubbing in, but I think you will find the higher the SPF the thicker the lotion. Closer to home, we have had good luck with Coppertone Ultra Guard spray on which is 70+ SPF, but we did go through a lot of it so now that my kids are older I will use the Banana Boat Sport Performance. I use Neutrogena for my face, but my kids claim it burns on theirs. They like the Banana Boat 50 SPF stick for their faces.
Pure coconut oil! It even prevents sunburn but you still get a great tan. Smells good and non-toxic!
Hi B.,
I use Sun Shades brand from Melaleuca, the Wellness Company. It is made from a patented micro-fine zinc oxide so it really does screen the sun. It is not going to be a quick application like an oil but once it's on, it's on for the day. They also make a spray on but I find most of the spray from any brand just floats away.
The Sun Shades rubs on clear and is actually good for your skin. I love it!
I would try something in a spray that goes on fast.
I like Neutragena for myself, but I don't think it is waterproof, so I make sure to have a waterproof sunscreen for my daughter because we go to the beach and pool a lot.
We use Melaleuca's Sun Shades. I like the lotion while my husband likes the spray. We also use the lip balms. They are light enough to not feel sticky or heavy but are also effective.
I have always used Aveeno Baby sunscreen on my little one and myself. I have sensitive skin and it does not cause me or him to break out in a rash.
I like the neutrogena oil free, because I get oily really quickly. I get the spray, too, I think it's easier. I also get the highest SPF possible, but only because I have really pale Irish skin and burn super easy. And use the same on my dd as I use on me.
I like Kiss My Face. It has no parabens that cause cancer and it works great. I'm a big fan. I have a stick for faces. I have a spray bottle which comes in handy with wiggly kids and I have a tube of it. I'm ready for summer! California Baby and Jason are the other two brands I have heard are safe and good for you. I'm sure there are others as well.
I use water babies lotion for the at home apply before we go out and then I use the water babies spray when we go out to reapply. I also put the lotion on when she is naked so she can't go anywhere until we are done. She knows she can't go outside naked. If you decide to go with water babies or a Coppertone product, go to the website for coupons.
