So I have 16 kiddos on my guest list for my daughters third birthday party. She chose the Hello Kitty set from celebrate express and the favor box has lipgloss, hairclips, and heartglasses! So the question is do I get different favor boxes for the boys (this is her party and what she chose but still...). Also do I order boxes for the two 12 year olds. All the other kids are 6 and under. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ok so we totally ditched the Hello Kitty boxes because we went to Michael's today and found these adorable little totes that you can decorate with foam shapes and glitter glue!! So we got pink, green and blue ones and we have combined the party activities and the favor bags into one! Saved a ton plus the pink totes rang up a penny each and they gave me the price!! Also got glow bracelets 15/0.66. We're doing a pull-string pinata which will top them off. Thanks for the feedback - b/c you all mentioned we should do something different for the boys is why we were out looking.

I would say, yes. :) Although...it depends on the ages of the boys. My 6 year old will gladly take heartshaped sunglasses over no sunglasses! And at 3 he would have been all about the lipgloss, hairclips, and <3-shaped shades.

A good rule (if you don't want the girls getting jealous of squirtguns or hotwheels) is to get the same stuff...just boyish. So chapstick & sunglasses & travel sized mousse, is one option.

I'd also say, yes on something different for the 12 year olds.

I agree with everyone else, the boys need different goodie bags. I really like Zoe's idea, it keeps with the theme but is more "boyish". Have fun!

Ha ha yeah I'd say the boys need a different favor box. You can definitely get fun boy items at the Dollar Store. Boys are easier to please than girls... saying that, they might not even care that it's Hello Kitty, BUT to save yourself from any meltdowns I'd get the boys something else. Let your daughter pick out the boy items so she feels like she has control over her party and isn't surprised.

Also at the Dollar Store you can put together a little Spa favor box for the two 12 year old's (assuming they are girls). It'll make them feel a little more grown up.

Have Fun and Good Luck!

lolol--- isn't it fun???? --- I agree that the favor bags sound like they need a bit of tweaking for the little boys --- different sun glasses--- non-colored lip gloss ( daddies use it, too) =--- just little stuff from the dollar store will make their hearts glad. And I would certainly put different things in for the 12 year olds--though sometimes they think the little kid stuff is kooky and fun---

Have a wonderful time-
blessings,

yes, I would get different party favors for the boys.. they would probably throw out the hello kitty stuff.. save the left over hello kitty favors to put with other birthday gifts for girls that your daughter goes to thier party.. You could always buy a hello kitty purse at toys r us and put one of your hello kitty lip gloss inside to make for a nice b-day gift for some little girl.

I went through this when I threw my daughter a tea party. I just made the boys little Pirate packages and for the 2 older cousins, I talked to their mom about it and didnt do favors for them...it was a little kid party. But if you want to include them, I think that the same thing for the little kids is fine, especially if they are girls, who doesnt love hello kitty!! :) Hope its fun!

I have actually had this problem in the past. Yes I would get different favor boxes for the boys. I have used Birthday Express and I let my child pick which goodie boxes to get for the boys. So then there would be Hello Kitty for the girls and then whatever she chooses for the boys. In the past the Monster Truck, Spider-Man, or Dinosaurs have been a huge hit with boys attending my daughter's birthday celebrations. As for the 12 year olds, I think they understand. I have a 10 year old and he doesn't expect goodie boxes anymore when we attend parties of our firends' younger children. If you want to get something though you could always get a $5 gift card to Target, Wal-mart or a video/music/bookstore that they can used towards a new CD,DVD, or book of their choosing. My son has received these in the past and thought them very "cool". I hope these suggestions help. Have fun at the party! :)
