Hi E.,
My daugther has this problem. At first she had sores all over her body and her feel and hands were peeling. After six doctors visits and then to the Vanderbulit ER, they finally told me she has psorasis. even though the sores on her body are gone and have not come back, her feet and hands still peeled for quite some time after. I do not let her wear Crocs for too long, stand in water or be in sock at that. Any time her feet get to much mositure is when her feet start to peel. Her hands have finally stopped. Guttate psorasis is what my daugther has but that is not to say that is what you have. If you live in Murfreesboro, the new building on Medical Center has the M'boro Dermo. Clinic and they are wonderful. Dr. Nelson is my daugther DR.
Good Luck,
R.
It could be some type of fungus. Prob'ly should have a Dr. look at it (or you could just buy some Lotrimin-type cream and try it, yourself). Other over-the-counter creams like Eucerin or foot powders might even help if you don't wanna go the Dr. route (I know how hard it is to get in to see one if you don't have a regular one!)
I am severely allergic to dishwashing detergent and have this exact reaction if I wash dishes (I know my hubby didn't believe it at first either, lol). Anyway, I try my best to stay away from it to prevent this from happening because it is extremely painful as you say. I would think through what you've done in the last few days and see if you can figure out what could have caused it and avoid it at all costs. In the meantime use a cream, not a lotion. Something like Cetaphil cream might keep too much of your skin from peeling.
Hi E.:
I am a registered nurse and have eczema, which is a dry skin condition that sounds very similar to what you describe. It appeared in the past few years with me hitting menopause. (It is also a symptom of hypothyroidism so you may want to check with your doctor)
It seems that everyone is recommending their products and I know that can be overwhelmng and confusing. I work with a nutritional company called Isagenix (World's leader in nutritional cleansing) and we too have incredible products. My skin was to the point where it would bleed and in a matter of 3 or 4 days it was completely healed by the use of a lotion we carry. Our products are all natural and developed by a formulator who has designed over 2300 products for names like GNC and other well known companies. He came out of retirement to market this incredible line and you cannot purchase it in stores. We are backed by a scientific advisory board of doctors, nutritionists and scientists (One of our docs adivsed 2 US Presidents!). As a nurse, I have not found anything that compares to these products, so yes, I became a consulant. I have found that by improving our nutritional health as well, my family has had remarkable results and my eczema is no longer an issue. I know it must be confusing with so many different people hitting on and sharing their products. And of couse, I feel Isagenix offers the best due to the results I have with my skin care (we have a whole line designed by a plstic surgeon!) and improved health(I've lost 25 pounds when nothing else worked!) Let me know if you would like more info and I can assist you in getting wholesale prices.
Best of luck in your search for answers!
E., RN
Mine and my mom's do it, too. We try to keep lotion on them and such, but it still happens. Mostly I just take a bath and schlupp it off to try and get it over and done with.
Hi E.,
When our son was little, this happened with him.
We were told to cut off the feet on his pajamas because his feet would get so hot and sweaty that they would peel.
Could that possibly be your problem?
If so, as I understand it, if you use a little cornstarch in your shoes, it should help it.
I realize that that suggestion does not sound all that up to date but it is what we were told.
Good luck to you,
B.
Hi, E.. I work from home in a health and wellness company and I believe we have a Skin Conditioning Oil which would help you. I would be delighted to let you try it and see what you think. Call me @ ###-###-####. Thanks!
Our products are formulated in Switzerland and have been around since 1980. They are botanically based with no added chemicals, mineral oil or animal by-products. I am also a registered nurse. Please let me know if I can help.
E., sounds like this may be psoriasis. A better nutritional program makes a big difference in this. I have an all natural product that has helped my aunt greatly with a terrible case of psoriasis. She has been to doctor after doctor & none of their meds have helped. If you want to know more, just call ###-###-####.

Hi E.,
About 10 years ago I had the same thing only much more severe. For about two years I almost had no skin on the palms of my hands (My feet peeled too but not quite as severe). The skin would peel off and so much would come off it would just be a bloody mess. I went to doctors and they said anything from eczema to infection and prescribed me all kinds of treatments and medicines (which didn't work). I tried lotions and I can still feel the excrutiating burning it caused. I tried the gloves with lotion. I tried antibiotic creams. Nothing worked and it was not only painful and frustrating but it was also embarassing and stressful.
The main cause of it for me was stress and still to this day when I get too much going on and stress TOO much... my hands and feet start in again. It reminds me to try to tone down the stress. Also water and cleaning solvents... doing dishes, washing the bathtub or just having my hands or feet exposed to liquids for an extended period....could make a mild flare up much much worse.
I hope that the traditional methods work for you...lotions, creams, antibiotics......but if not I hope perhaps my experience helps you. Its always good to put our stress level in check ;)
Wishing you all the best ~A.
Hey E., I'm a pharmacist and recommend Arbonne products...have seen great response to peeling and ezcema with these products. The best products to stave off further progression are the Intelligence Cleansing Gel, Hand Cream and Herbal Foot Cream. Contact me and I'll get you a 20% discount for Mamasource members: ____@____.com website is teresabennett.myarbonne.com. I'm a SAHM with biz from home and glad to recommend things that work!
Hi E., I'm sure I've responded to you about other things mentioning a company called Melaleuca. This company sells a creme called Renew, its amazing and deals with all kinds of dry skin conditions. It sounds like it could be exzenma or even an allergy to the products you use at home. Switching what you wash your home and clothes with to safer products will probably help, plus a good creme.
I'd gladly tell you about Melaleuca if you're interested in hearing about it, it has been amazing to see the results for myself (I suffer from chemical sensitivities) and for my girls who both suffer from very sensitive skin that simply switching stores and using safer, better, products that don't contain harsh chemicals in my home have given us.

FIND A GOOD HOMEOPATH!!!
Sounds like an allergy or fungus. The skin is the bodies first line of defense, so think of this as a good thing (whatever it is is not being forced inward).
A Homoepath or Naturopath can help your body resolve the issue. Conventional medicine will want to suppress the symptoms (via creams etc) but for this type of thing, usually a good holistic practitioner can help you actually resolve the problem so it does not need to return. (as apposed to treat symptoms everytime they flare up)
There are several in the Ral/Dur area. I like Dr Susan Delaney at The Wellness Center in Carrboro. Worth the Drive!

I wish you well with any choice you make!
My son had this happen and it was because he had strep, the Dr. thought thats what it was and gave him a strep test and it was positive, he didn't act like or say he was sick at all, a few days after he started taking the antibiotics it stopped.
You need to see a doctor. You may be allergic to comething and not even know it.
E.--My sister and dad both have skin conditions that affect their hands(not sure about the feet) like you are describing. Both of them have dry, cracking and peeling skin that leaves their hands looking rather raw and painful. Recently my sister talked again to a Dr. about what she should do....he said it looked like a form of excema (I'm sure I spelled that wrong but hopefully you know what I mean), and he also asked if she had hay fever or allergies---she does---and if she washed them alot---she does. She was told that it was not only an external condition but because of her hay fever and allergies something internally was affecting them also. The non-perscription treatment she was given (no insurance) was to not wash her hands as often, use a non-soap to wash her hands and a cortizone cream to help with the itching and soreness. The soap free cleansers can be found at the grocery store and Kroger's actually carries a store brand--it is a liquid "soap" that is a bit cheaper than the others. The label will say does not contain soap..... He also recommended she get cotton gloves and slather her hands with a good (fragrance free)lotion at night and sleep with the gloves on.
Hope some of this helps.
