Poor kid, if he has been going all day and night with that kind of fever, after starting antibiotics, I would call the pediatrician on call and ask what they suggest. With my kiddos, I have found getting as few as 2 doses of antibiotic in them with the Tylenol and IB, the fever goes down. Just check with an on call doc or ER to be sure nothing else is going on. Good luck and prayers for your little guy!!
He needs to be on an antibiotic for the strep. The fever should go down after 24 hours of starting antibiotic. Motrin I have found works way better than tylenol for high fever. There is also a new study out about Tylenol use being linked to Asthma. Hope it goes down soon. If not...take him to E.R.
Try to remember that when ever we get sick, it always gets worse at night.
He should be on an Antiboitic for the ear infection.
Keep rotating the tylenol and Mortrin. Make sure you give it to him right on time.
Give him a bath that is light warm and then let it cool by its self to room temp and then that will help with the fever.
You might want to get in the tub with him ( I always wear a bra and underwear when I have to get in with my little ones. ) to help hold him so that he feels better.
If you have an IPAD or a laptop you could put it on a chair next to the tub so that he can watch something that he likes online. Like go on youtube and type in The Wild Kratts and he can watch that while his body is cooling down.
I would let him stay in the tub for about 45min's to an hour.
It will help.
Make sure that he is drinking alot of liquids. Stay away from red liquids.
When you are ready to put him down for sleep put Vicks Vapor Rub on the bottoms of his feet. Just take it and put a thin layer all over the bottoms of his feet. Then put socks on his feet.
The vicks will help draw out the fever through his feet. I know it sounds stupid but it has been around for a long time.
You might want to get some BE COOL patches for him to have to put onto his forehead. If you don't have them at home then I would pick some up tomorrow at any Walmart.
I hope that your little one feels better real soon.
God Bless him and his little body.
Take care Mommy, you are doing a wonderful job.
Any fever over 102 is scary. 104 is dangerous! You should be headed to the ER!
Since you have been to the doctor I assume he is now on antibiotics.
Given the antibiotics 24 hours to work. In the meantime, just keep him
comfortable with Motrin and Tylenol. Certainly after 24-48 hours you do
not see an improvement head back to doctor. High fevers do not scare me.
Obviously he is tolerating it but I am sure he is miserable. Better days ahead.
Call your doctor.. My son had a bad ear infection and while at the doctor his temp was 105. They did give tylenol right then and there and i was told to monitor him. His fever finally broke later that day. My ped said that had we not been in is office and him to see that my son was acting just fine he would have sent us to the hosiptal. Good luck!!!
Hi T. I suggest that you call your son's pediatrican!!! to get a professional answer. To make sure nothing else it going on inside of him.
Try fever all. Inserted in the rectum. my son had a fever of 104.9 when he was 2yrs, couldnt bring it down with ty or IB. Tturns out he had pneumonia, dr gave the insert and brought down the fever in 15 min. it works!!
doctor or ER. a fever that wont break or lower at all while on meds is dangerous, especially if it lasts for days. I see you are in Indiana, I can't remember where La Porte is, but if it is close to Indy, take him in to Rileys, they will take care of him.
