My kids are wild about books. When my daughter was 13 months, her favorite thing to do was toddle around with book in hand. Sit and "read" out loud, then back up again, cruising the house.

The other ideas are all good, too, don't get me wrong, but books are always good for my family.

My 28 month old girl has loved the following items for the past year:

Any arts and crafts - markers on paper, paint on the easel, crayons, stickers, sticker books, tracing her hand, hand prints

An easel- from IKEA is cheap.

Her favorite dollies, they have names and they sleep with her

A toddler sleeping bag that she now sleeps in in her crib

Christmas lights and decorations - she goes nuts over them. Santa night light, music box with ice skaters on an ice rink, Christmas tree.

Feeding her goldfish.

Her play grocery store, house, kitchen. She has more recently gotten into those toys and now loves them.

Any of those would be good gifts that she'd enjoy for a long time.

A little kitchen set. They love playing mommy and do the cooking and such. My granddaughter would "cook" us up stuff all the time and it was so fun to watch her. She is 3 now and she still loves to play in her kitchen. Last night she was making me "strawberries" and asked if I liked mustard. I said "yes" and she "squirted" the mustard on there (I had bought a set of squeeze mustard and ketup bottles for her). I said "did you put mustard on my strawberries?" She said "yes" and I said "ewwww". The look on her face as she looked down at the pan of "strawberries" was priceless. You could see her mind thinking "oh no what do I do with it now." Imagination is such a wonderful thing.

i would also agree with dollies...if she has a bunch, maybe a little high chair, stroller, crib etc...a kitche, play food, play vaccuum...they are really into copying mom and dad at this age. board books, little people, chunky blocks, music kid cd's...

My daughter will be 15 mos. at xmas she is NOT interested in baby dolls or strollers.

My daughter likes cars, trucks, musical toys, toys she can push around, kitchen set, balls, etc..

Her big gift this year is the Fisher Price Learning Farm. It was about 70 dollars. It's a wall with a door they can crawl/walk through and interactive buttons and educational activities on both sides of this wall.

Books are always a great gift. Check with your local library or book store for new books or classics for that age. Our daughter loved blocks and balls at that age. About that time she also started to have a favorite stuffed animal and blanket.

I have a fifteen month old girl and my suggestions would be a baby doll. Mine just started to get attached to babies. We have one that came with a bottle and she likes to feed it. My daughter also has socks and shoes on her x-mas list size 6, she wears a size 5 now. Plus you can never have too many socks, they always seem to go missing. Also my daughter really likes to eat with a spoon and fork now, so those are always nice to have a bunch of. I would also recommend books, they are always nice no matter what the age.

Get her her first baby doll. Or a Fisher Price ball popper. They love those. Or a push popper. For something bigger, get her a play kitchen. There's one on sale at Walmart right now. I have an 18-mo-old daughter. Good luck!
