Your doctor may recommend it, but the flu shot can actually sometimes cause the flu itself and there's no guarantee you'll still be protected from the flu. The flu shot is usually an educated guess of which strains of the virus will be going around... only 2 of 3 types and you are open game to anything else going around. I also agree with the other mom about mercury in these vaccines, labeled thimerisol, it's a neuro toxin and is debated to be a cause of autism.
In any case mercury is no good for you or your baby! My sister in law got the flu shot for herself and family, they've had a stomach flu and 2 colds this season so far... Our family did not and my 2 toddlers have had 1 case of the sniffles. There's no quick fix, washing hands, staying away from sick friends and eating right to boost your immune system is your best bet!
All the Best, M.

Dear N.;

Please check with your doctor all the time before taking any medicine or any liquid while you're pregnant because you never know what is the affect on your child inside your tummy. Everything we drink and eat, or injection will goes to our body. Or nursing an infant, always check with your doctor. The baby will drink and eat everything we have in our body. You don't wanted you child to eat or drink those medicine or whatever. Good Luck.

I wouldn't recommend it. I got the flu shot and was extremely sick soon after...I couldn't take care of my baby whatsoever. Honestly, since then I have avoided the flu shot, as I feel they just make you worst.

I would check what is in your flu shot before getting it. Many contain mercury. I know this is a hugely debated topic and everyone has different opinions, but I am also nursing and neither of us received the flu shot and we are fine. Plus I have heard that the shot they are giving you is for last years flu. So putting all those chemicals in your body may not be so great after all. Check into that before making a decision. My doctor also highly recommended both of us get the shot, but we just try to wash hands often and take our vitamins regularly.

Absolutely ok and recommended. Would you want to get the flu or give it to your newborn?

Hi! I am an OB nurse and work in a hospital that requires all healthcare emloyees to receive a flu shot. I actually just received my flu shot the other day. I was told that it is safe for nursing moms. My infant also received a flu shot at his 6 month appt. http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/vaccines-bf.html
Check out the above link, it is a great resource for nursing moms and very research based evidence.
