Going to Vegas, just me and my hubby for a few days. Haven't left our kids for six years, so this is kind of a second honeymoon. Any ideas for free or almost free things to do? Thanks

What can I do next?

it's been a few years since i went, but they had a free show outside in water with pirate ships and pirates at treasure island, and then theres the lights and fountain show at the bellagio (i think) thats free and then the inside of the mall at caesar's is really cool, the ceiling is painted like the sky. just walking around inside and out of all the different casinos will keep you entertained. i walked around with my mouth hanging open for four days straight. it's to bad the star trek experience closed, that was really awesome. go to the different casinos web sites and see what they say. have a blast!!!

I went two years ago with my mom and baby. At Circus Circus they have free circus acts throughout the day that were fun to watch. I thought the pirate show was closed but maybe that was temporary. The Belliago has a really neat room inside that is decorated for the recent holiday. When we were there it was Chinese New Year. Also the fountian show was awesome. We liked walking around the mall at Cesar's Palace and they have a show about the Greek Gods in the middle of the mall. We liked walking around The Miracle Mile shops too. Have fun!

I have moved to vegas recently and since moving here my brother from colorado has come here twice and we have had alot of fun doing the strip and freemont street. Freemont Street is located downtown and has a light show in the evenings plus a few bands to keep all happy. it is completely free. on the strip there are alot of things going on such as treasure island pirate show, bellaigo water fountain, ceasar palace has things going on inside. there are alot of things inside the casinos you can watch that doesnt cost also some of the shows you can see with minimum of a couple of drinks. yellow brick road is playing at the sun coast. also Sam's town has a show in there entry that is great to see. there is alot to see but come and have fun.

Walk the strip, just make sure you go to the new side (not by the flamingo) theres shark bay, treasure island, the wax museum, the flower gardens at Mandela bay (I think) look at this website, too. Oh and the m&m factory and the outlets at Caesars palace super pretty. FYI though the treasure island will get canceled if its windy lol. Oh and the water show at ummm somewhere look it upI lived there for a while by the way :)

There's tons of great things to do; it's kind of an adult Disneyland, we think! Check out Lasvegas.com and you can click on what would interest you. You mention it's a second honeymoon, so you may find something under weddings, then scroll down and click guide to vegas, wedding/honeymoon on the left column. You can click Vegas Guide, and then scroll through and find something that describes your lifestyle or occasion for a link to stuff that may interest you. And then click Attractions (the best link; I save that for last) and scroll through all the good ideas there (you can click under "things to do in Vegas": free attractions, thrill rides, museums and galleries, etc). Then scroll down further on that page for the top attractions (most free) that each casino on the strip offers. From there you can begin to map out some neat ideas. Below those, are some great off the strip ideas if you're planning on being there a few days you could venture off the strip for some more sites, and if nearly everything you do is free, then you may be able to afford one neat event out of Vegas that you can get help planning through vegas.com, just scroll down a little further. (like we had a limo pick us up at the hotel and take us to helicopters to fly into the Grand Canyon, which I would LOVE to go back to now that there's that new scenic glassbottomed platform where you can walk out over it now for a crazy view). But this website is by far the best, most thorough way to get info and plan your trip, to find things that would interest YOU individually. Have fun!!!

If you would use the child care, a lot of the casinos actually have inexpensive child care, in the hopes that you gamble of course. :)

Walking about Fremont street and the other hotels with shows is always good too.

Just walking around the strip is free entertainment! Walking around and checking out all the different casinos...Vegas is just very, very visual. I've gone on business trips with my husband and have spent absolutely nothing on anything other than food and drinks (which since I don't drink alcohol, if you go straight to the bartender, they will give you free soda...waitresses don't). I read at the pool, went on jogs for excercise, went on tons of walks looking around at everything, swam, hot tub... If you dress up, you have a good chance of getting into a night club with a pass for free...you have to wait in line while they let in paid appointment customers, but a night of dancing is worth it to me. Have a load of fun...from my experience, shows and gambling are not neccessary to have a blast there!

You don't mention the age of your kids, other than perhaps 6+. There is a place on Las Vegas Blvd called Discovery Museum. It is kind of a educational fun museum. They have everything from basket ball in wheel chairs to a life sized bubble loop. Per person fees. There are quite a few things, but a lot depends on the age of your children.

The Lions at MGM are interesting to see, at least for a few minutes. :)
Also the water show (Bellagio?) and the Pirate Show at Treasure Island.

And visit the M&M shop. Its right on the strip, walking distance north of MGM iir. It is 4 floor of M&M stuff, toys, clothes, etc, including a whole wall of different colored M&M's. Plus displays and "take the journey of an M&M" And last spring they had a short (15 min) 3D movie for free.

As far as shows, you might just want to research what is available while you are there and pick just one to splurge on. They can be pricey, but it could be fun.

Oh, and don't forget to take your picture under the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. It's an old piece of Las Vegas history, and fun memorabilia for you. :)

Make sure to check out the inside of the Bellagio too and see the garden and glass sculptures on the ceiling-- beautiful! Walking around the Venetian is also worthwhile.
