Fridge Banging Loudly When Using Water/ice, Intermittent, Sounds like the Tardis

My Whirlpool side by side fridge is often banging loudly when I use the water or ice. It sounds like the Tardis is landing at the back of the fridge! I've just changed the water filter for it, and googled to no avail. Any ideas? The water and ice still work. It was from Ikea. Pretty sure it's out of warranty; it's about 3 1/2 yrs old.

What can I do next?

I am going to say air in the system as well. When we change the filter we have to fill several pitchers of water (and water the plants) to clear it out and it still takes a few days before it really settles down.
And I have to say...I could not help but laugh a great deal when I read that it sounded like the TARDIS. Huge Dr Who fans here ;)

Air in the line is my guess as well, we had a similar problem and it turned out the hose from the water line was loose (we actually moved the fridge out to check).

And the Tardis comment made me LOL too. Awesome.

Other than calling Ikea and seeing if they have an appliance hotline of some kind, I would also say air....

But the real reason I'm posting is to say that If the TARDIS were landing in my kitchen I'd be standing there ready to depart!

I suggest calling a repairman and ask what could be causing it. You don't have to have them come out. Many will tell you how to fix it yourself if that's possible to do.

My guess is air in the line. How to get it out? I do not know.

Try googling the model and troubleshooting; see if there's a phone number. They may have a helpline even if it's out of warrantee.

And I'm SO pleasantly surprised to see so many Doc Who fans! Awesome. I'm wondering, does the fridge have two doors like the Tardis, or do you have to clime into the freezer to go anywhere? LOL :)
