I would think, "What's his #, so I can set him up with my husband?"
My husband LOOOOVES Star Wars. The kids are very much into it as well. I am not, but I see no harm. Everyone needs a hobby. I think it would be fun to see what he is building. In any case, at least he is creating something, right? Rather than watching tv or playing video games.

(just kidding)
Hey, it takes all kinds, right? Me myself? Not big into models or Star Wars, but I have my own embarrassing hobbies (mamapedia anyone?). So, I guess it wouldn't really phase me.
If I were a model builder I'd do train sets.
Happy Friday!

Weird depending on the person and circumstances. If it isn't cutting into family life, work, or normal social interaction, you could say this person is a hobby enthusiast and this is probably the only time they have to indulge.
If they're a freaky basement dweller, who doesn't come up to eat or bathe, considers the virtual Princess Leah on his interactive Star Wars game his actual girlfriend, you might be right in calling them weird.

Sooo depends on the family. I married a golfer, so I know that he will disappear on me for hours at a time. If he were playing video games, I would have a fit. I can sit up on my laptop and play Scrabble for hours, with my baby asleep or nursing in my arms. Sometimes I use having the baby there as my excuse not to move.
I don't think that it's super weird or normal, just HIS thing. We all have our "things".

I sometimes stay up all night sewing.
My son sometimes stays up all night playing a game online. Hes been playing for 8 years or more and likes the group of players on the other side of the planet who are awake when its his night time. Plus he works nights sometimes so on his days off, its normal to stay up all night. Star Wars holds a special place in a lot of hearts. If they dont come up to eat, bathe and go to work in the daytime, Id be a bit more conerned.

Everybody needs a hobby.
Some people spend lots of time making elaborate ginger bread houses, building model train lay outs with miniature towns and landscaping, knitting, quilting, building model castles/churches/cathedrals from Legos, etc.
Building Star Wars stuff is not any different.
(This Lego church impressed me a lot - amazingly creative)

Odd...but Star Wars people are apparently a different breed completely.
Normal! Even my husband! Not so much Star Wars, but he stays up late playing xbox with his adult friends, they're all computer geeks. He has star wars lego things, very expensive things. He is a sci-fi maniac, and I would take my loving husband, wonderful dad, geek, any day over someone who goes out to the bars at night, spends weekends golfing, fishing, Etc, or some other addiction!

If that is what he likes to do and it does not interfere with his responsibilities as a dad and husband, I don't see the harm in it.
But it is a little out of the norm. :o)

Sounds like a hobby of his. Some people are huge fans of Star Wars. I think my hubby would probably do something like that if he had the stuff to do it with. :-) It may be 'his getaway'...a stress reliever.
Painting, playing piano, guitar, listening to music, computer games, or watching a good show or movie is my getaway/stress reliever. :-)
So I would think it is a hobby/stress reliever etc.

I would think it sounds like a bunch of my friends, my husband and myself. So, no, not weird or strange in any way. Completely normal. We are members of worldwide costuming groups recognized by Lucas Film (Rebel Legion & the 501st) that does charity events and other public service activities in as screen accurate as possible full costumes. We build prop replicas. We're also members of a local chapter non-costume Star Wars club.
What type of stuff is he building?
Everyone can have hobbies!

Fine by me so long as it was only once a week or so and it wasn't effecting his job or duties as a father/husband and he wasn't becoming reclusive or super smelly and gross, or if he started to think the Force actually worked in 'real life' or obsessively fantasized over Princess Leah! I tend to stay up all night doing projects too... maybe I would visit him in a slave costume if he were my hubs.
ha, the costume comment killed me!

Well, I don't like Star Wars, so that would be weird to me. But if someone has a hobby, well, more power to him!!! On second thought, if he is building it with his kids, I think it's great!! And my last thought, hopefully he's not building a space ship.

He likes it!
Better him doing that than going to bars all night or watching Porno or doing other bad things.
People... have all kinds of hobbies. And YES... MANY "Adults" love Legos. There are even Lego clubs in most cities. Maybe he can join one.
It is NOT weird.

My husband is an insomniac...he's up to all hours. Last night he fixed the leak in the kitchen (water filter system)...
Some nights he's playing video games, some nights he does I don't know what in his office or living room.
To me it's not super weird, just because I am married to an insomniac...if it was something that was hurtful to his family then yes. But I don't think Star Wars is hurting his family.

My husband is 31. He is a full time student and works full time. He has twin 4 year old boys. He sits up all night and puts together Warhammer 40K models. He paints them. I think every one needs a creative out let. Just because this man may be interested in Star Wars does not mean that he is weird. I am a true believer that every one has the right to live their life as they choose.

Male friend of ours is currently attending a "Horror Show" and apparently there were lines out the hotel when he arrived. Another male friend, in full regala, attended a Star Wars event in Vegas a few years back too. My husband loves building legos. I love to sew. So, sounds like a harmless trekkie hobby to me :)

Anyone who puts time and energy (even all night) into something that makes them happy and fulfilled is normal. It doesn't matter the task or hobby. The personal growth, satisfaction, and enjoyment acheived in putting all of you into ANYTHING is very rewarding. Nobody else's opinion really matters.

I think it's normal for guys into stuff like that. If he was doing it and not able to go to work the next day, then that's not okay. But if he's free of responsibility and not causing stress in his family, then I think it's somewhat normal. I know guys who do stuff like that. My hubby not being one of them either:-)

Boys will be boys. I would start worrying if it's affecting his relationship with his kids and it's keeping him from being a productive citizen during the day. It's okay to have a hobby but some people get out of control. My sister dated this loser who spent all his money on star war action figures and hung them all over his walls. He couldn't get a real job just worked at video game stores and never had any money to take care of her. They obiviously split and he didn't even have a car at the time so she let him drive hers for awhile afterwards.
