I have naturally curly hair. Sometimes it is in tight little curls all over, and other times it will be wavy on one side with tight curls on the other. Either way, keeping the frizziness at bay is always a battle.
My hair is baby fine in texture, but I have a huge volume of it. My hairdresser always takes more volume out than length off. It only comes to my shoulders. If you saw the floor after my haircut and didn't know how long my hair is you would probably think that I just had about 4 or 5 inches cut off when all she did was take the volume out and trim any split ends. After I let her take the volume out of my hair, I noticed it was much easier to control the frizziness. My son always calls me a lion when I am in need of a haircut. If she has a lot of hair, you might consider having the volume taken out.
I usually wash my hair every other day, unless it is absolutely necessary to wash. I usually use a leave in conditioner, but sometimes I just use baby oil. If you don't want to use adult products then you could try the baby oil. Rub a few drops of baby oil on the palms of your hands, and then gently use your fingers to comb through the hair. A little bit of baby oil does wonders! If your daughter's hair is long, then do it in sections.
Make sure you always use conditioner on her hair when you wash it. Keeping curly hair moisturized is very important in keeping the frizzies under control. Let her hair dry naturally, or use a hairdryer with a diffuser. Don't use regular hair brushes on curly hair. Use a thick toothed brush or pick. And when you do brush it, start at the bottom and work your way up. I have had a straight perm before, and it is so much easier to take care of straight hair. But curly hair doesn't need to be intimidating, it just takes some getting used to on how to care for it.
