Fun Board Games for Grownups and Kids

What are some fun board games for grownups? My sister and I love to play games when our families are all together over the holidays...usually at night after the kids are in bed and with a few margaritas :-) We love Balderdash and Cranium, but are looking for some new ideas.

Also, what are some fun kids' games? Mine are 5 and 3 but their cousins are 9 or 10. So, I guess a game that my 5 yr old would have fun playing and maybe the older two also. My 3 yr old will join in for a little before he is off doing his own thing.

Cranium has several veraions, You could try the Family Edition with the 9 & 10 year old. The younger kids could be part of the team. Cariboo is for a young crowd, so you could consider that as well.

Clue is what we play together. I have a 4 & 7 year old. One of us usually teams up with the younger one.

Some of our favorite games are:
UNO and UNO Moo
Skip-bo
Old Maid
Go Fish
Operation
Connect Four
Guess Who
Trouble
Phase 10
Sequence

Our four year old son plays all of these games except for Phase 10 and Sequence. There are some kids versions of Sequence but we have yet to get them because he has so many other games to play. Enjoy playing over the holidays.

Apples to Apples is hours and hours of fun. It's fun with kids, but it's even more fun when the kids are in bed and the margaritas are flowing!!!!!!!

We also play scrabble, Clue and monopoly.

Our favorite game, hands down, is Settlers of Catan. Brilliant game. So fun, everyone I know loves it. Also, Ticket to Ride is a good game, goes pretty quickly, even some younger kids can play (our 8 year old has been playing for at least a year). Stoneage is good also, lots of fun.

We found 'Train Dominos' works for kids 5 and up but is still fun foro the adults. Farkle also has a wide range of ages that can play.

I remember playing Life and Monopoly the most with my family as a kid.

Apples to Apples would be fun for the adults, but you could check the ages on it, and maybe it would work for the kids, too, before they go to bed.

If you team up; kids and adults, Scattergories is great! Kids come up with some pretty wild stuff. For just the kids you might need to set it's timer twice to give them a better shot.

For adults: Apples to Apples, adult edition. Nothing like it! Very funny.

For kids 5 and up: try Blokus. Younger kids can "get" it, and it's all strategy, so very fun. "Sorry" (originally Parcheesi!) is something your three year old can enjoy for a while, and if he drops out of the game, it won't matter.

I always liked the game of Life. It's pretty fun for everyone. Yahtzee is good too, although the little ones will need help with the scoring, but they will love throwing the dice! You could always just play Go Fish or Crazy Eights or Uno. My kids are really into card games right now. Have fun!

Stay away from "Life". I LOVED it as a child, and my daughter loved it too (they had an old edition in her gifted class that they would occasionally get to play)... so I bought her one for Christmas 2 years ago.
They have CHANGED the GAME! It is NOT the same game anymore... WAAAAAAYYYYYY too many complications in it involving the college career route and college loans, and careers and holding jobs. It's almost TOO real, lol. We were all so excited to sit down together on Xmas night and play it (after the Wii and other new stuff was tried out and we were winding down).... and it just became a big JOKE b/c it was so complicated and ridiculous. We have never opened the box again.
