Is there a cure for garlic breath? My husband was put on the Mediteranean and low salt diet. We have been using a lot of garlic to make up for the lack of salt flavor, and, not saying it doesn't make me smell, but my husband and daughter have the smell seep out of her pores it seems. I don't want my daughter being the smelly kid at school, so I was wondering if there were a way of helping with the smell without giving up the garlic? We use all from the powdered garlic seasoning, to the jars of minced, and even actual garlic cloves. Also, if you have any great Mediteranean (easy) recipes, please share, but more importantly help with the smelly breath. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I don't have a cure, but just thought you could call one of the health food stores and see if they have a remedy. I am very interested to see what kind of responses you get, as we too love garlic and my husband seems to really hold the smell longer as well. Good luck and I'll check back to see what advice you get.

Hi L. for my husband and I we love the taste and smell of garlic but I know for some it is offensive. We take a garlic supplament but is odor free. Another way when using fresh garlic is also uses parsley with it. Parsley is suppose to chase away the garlic odor and for us this has worked. Good Luck and to your husband enjoy the garlic.

I don't think there's any way to get rid of it, except cutting down on the garlic. They do may No Salt, which is a salt alternative. Would something like that be permissable for your husbands diet? You could also try Googling salt substitutes. There are lots of spices out there that add great flavor, if you know how to use them. I would start looking up recipes online and see what you can find.

Sorry I don't have a cure for the bad breath. I agree about talking to a health food store or looking into salt substitutes. However on the topic of meals I hightly suggest the Sonoma Diet Cookbook and the Sonoma Diet book itself. The diet follows the same principles of the mediteranean diet only its based in Sonoma county CA. The recipes are awesome, I cook out of it all of the time. Another good resource for recipes is eatingwell.com and the clean eating magazine. Good Luck!
