put shaving cream on it leave for 5 minutes then vacuum it up... I got black nail poilsh out of carpet after a huge spill got it out of a parenting book!
Oh, please someone have a solution out there! I'll try anything!
Tonight was one of the rare occasions where I pulled out the nail polish with my daughter and for the first time was going to let her paint my nails. Long story short - it went something like this..."No, no, no, no NO, NO, NO, NO!!!" then 1/2 a bottle of dark purple nail polish landed on a braided wool rug :(
I tried some nail polish remover to hopefully lift it - and it didn't do a thing. i don't want to try anything else without reaching out for some sage advice...thought or solution??

Motsenbocher's lift off #3. I had to order it off of the internet, after a red nail polish bottle shattered on my carpet. It took 2 days to get here, and I'd already tried the nail polish remover. Came off like a charm. I cant recommend it enough!
My father-in-law once used paint thinner on my daughter's shirt (her favorite one) after she spilled nail polish all over the front of it and it didn't discolor and came out completely. I haven't tried it myself so I'd test a small area first.
Turn it over? Sorry, just in case other REAL advice doesn't work.
I don't have a solution on how to get it out but can tell you NOT to use polish remover, especially if it has acetone in it, it will start eating away at the rug. Sorry I've been there, done that and it stinks.
Do you know the manufacturer? I called the hotline for stainmaster when scrapbook chalk got on the rug. It won't work with nail polish, but for chalk they told me to mix dish soap in a bowl and use the suds only. I dabbed suds on for five minutes, then dabbed off. It did lessen the color, though it never totally got it out.
When hubby spilled paint on brand new carpet, I soaked up what I could, then i let it dry. I then used a comb to comb it out. I trimmed the final blobs off each strand, then combed and swept the carpet again. No one else noticed.
I have a great product that gets nail polish out. Supposed to get out tar too, but I don't come across much tar nor do I want to go out searching for it to try.
I had this happen hot pink polish not just in 1 area but all over splatters..We acted quickly I used polish remover, followed by water soaked it up with a shop vac then soapy water scrubbing then carpet cleaner needless to say this area of my rug is the cleanest it all came out.I was desperate to get it out so I did everything.
