I am desperate for someone to tell me how to get this sap out of everything we own. We moved to a new house with a lot of trees and with that comes the mess when my kids are done outside. Anything would help!! Thanks

I used to work on a grounds crew and we would always get sap everywhere. The other recommendations are probably safer/gentler, but gasoline works great (that's what we would use). I think you just pore some on, let it sit, and wash it out. Good luck! That's a mess!

Hi A.,
I actually have a great solution. I think I read it on here a few years ago. Use liquid hand sanitizer, like Purell. Use just a plain variety with no moisturizers. Put a drop on the sap on dry clothes, and scrub on it lightly with your finger or another clean cloth. It really works!! I saved a pair of cotton shorts that had actually been washed and dried multiple times with the sap on. I also have used this method on jeans. I can't speak to any other type of fabric so test it in an inconspicious spot.
Good luck. I hope it works for you.
Take care,
B.

Peanut butter or ice work well on chewing gum. Maybe they'd work for tree gum too?

I've been backpacking and camping almost since I was born, and that means lots of pine sap. What we have always used to remove the sap is Dr. Bronners Pure Castille Soap (I like the peppermint scented one, but there are other scents). It is safe to use on your skin (and I think it's even supposed to be OK to brush your teeth with!)and gets sap out of fabric better than anything I've tried; it's also great for getting price tag goo off! You can find it at most health food stores, REI, and even some regular grocery stores. It's a little expensive, but it takes so little that it lasts forever.

The liquid hand sanitizer that Becki mention really works! I've used it to get sap out of carpet, my little one tracked it in on his shoes, and the fabric seats in our car, I left the window open one day when parked under our pine tree.

I use a soy soap bar to get stains (especially the tough ones) out of everything. If you don't have one, I recommend using "Goo Gone" or "Goof Off".

Have a GREAT day!

I would use sol-u-mel. It gets every thing out.

It is a melaleuca product, they are a online store. The products are naturally based and hve not bleach or other harsh ingredients. The products get shipped to your house.

You can get an account set up only by an existing customer.

You can contact me if you are interested in more information.

I know that to get sap off your hands butter takes it right off. Sounds crazy I know but my son who is a guide in the woods taught me that one. I don't see why it wouldn't work on clothes but then you have to get out the butter.

There is a product called Disolve It... it's yellow in a squirt bottle w/blue on it. It works good, but hard to find.

I have the same problem, we have a fire place and my oldest son took some tree logs and put them in my youngest son's carseat. I had sap all over that carseat. I put it in the wash, and I use tide for cold water. The sap came right off an it also came off of his clothes, so you may want to give tide a try.
