Gift cards are great! I would recommend Best Buy or from any sport store...which are great for men. Either from Sports Authority, Modells or Finish Line. Congrats!
Hi. My son is making his confirmation soon. He has asked my older brother to be his sponsor. He'd like to thank him for sponsoring him with a gift. (nothing terribly expensive, just to show his gratitude). My brother is a regular kind of guy and is actually an airplane mechanic in the military so he does not dress up for work (no tie tacks, or ties.)
Last year when my daughter was confirmed, she gave her sponsor a beautiful trendy purse as a thank you gift. (under 45$), if this helps.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It depends on his likes and dislikes. My friend gave me a gift certificate for a local spa to get a massage, manicure and pedicure---things I never do since kids lol!! I loved it. My hubby is a "doesn't get dressed up blue-collar guy" also. When he was a sponsor a few yrs ago, he was given a gift card to an electronic store he likes. I have this problem next year for my daughter. I think we are going to get a pair of Yankee tickets, since her godfather is a die-hard Yankees fan. (Expensive--heck yes, but he is also her uncle and the second most important male role model in her life--he's worth it).
Redenvelope.com has lots of cool regular guy stuff to choose from. I bought my husband a watch case in there that wasn't expensive at all and he thinks I spent a fortune...they also have those valet trays. Gift cards are always a great choice. Tickets to a game is cool too...maybe 2 so your son and brother can go together..or even for the minor teams...I think for $20 you can get the all-you-can-eat meal plan with the ticket for that day.
What about a nice, manly "jewelry box" type of thing to keep his wallet, watch, etc. Or a nice pewter tray for his dresser top?
If interested, he could get him a copy of The Message: Remix. It's the Bible in modern-day, very engaging readable language. It's faithful to the scriptures, but written so that you can hear it in a new way. The son being confirmed could highlight some verses that he's learned or are important to him (there's an online search engine at bible.oremus.org so he can look up keywords to find verses/stories and find chapter/verse.) It's something that they can continue to talk about or pass back and forth (each highlights a new set of verses each time). The Message is kind of a Bible for regular people in this modern world.
I love the idea of a nicely framed photo of your son with his uncle. If you can get the frame engraved with the occasion and date, so much the better. That's something anybody would like, and it's special and will last a long time.
Maybe an engraved key ring ...engraved with "my uncle rocks".
Try to get a great photo of your brother and your son and have it framed its simple but nice and it will always remind your brother of how important he is to your son. Or some kind of model plan find out what his favoirte plan is or the special thing he collects etc.. Congrats to your son.
