V.P.
I have a few people in my life that I always struggle to buy for, as they have the ability to purchase anything they want. Depending on your budget, I would suggest an "experience". For example, if he enjoys cooking, you can get him some cooking classes, or arrange a meet-and-greet with the chef at his favorite restaurant. Maybe even arrange a behind the scenes look at their pre-dinner preparations in the kitchen, when they might have a little time to talk with him about techniques, menu choices, etc. You can even present whatever experience you give him, gift wrapped with a matching themed book (ie, in this case a cookbook) and a bottle of wine.
Good luck!
