My best friend and I both moved to Dallas after we completed nursing school 2 and half years ago. She has now decided to do some travel nursing in Denver for a little while, and I am planning a going away get together. But, I want to send her with something special. She has always been there for me when I got married and had both my sons. She is single, so I have yet to have to opportunity to do something special for her. I need ideas. I don't have a lot of pictures of us, so a photo album/scrapbook is out. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

What can I do next?

How about a passbook-one of those books that has coupons for Denver! That way she can get some things a little cheaper and see what is available in her neighborhood! We have given one to new neighbors and the seem to really appreciate it and want to buy one for the next year....look at the back of a book and order one for Denver!

I have a digital picture frame but that novelty kind of wore off.

My son set up my Microsoft computer to where when it goes into screensaver mode, it starts randomly showing pictures in my "My Pictures" folder on computer. IF she uses a computer, she might like the ease of that. I don't know how to do it but if "Help" doesn't tell you, write me and I'll ask him so you can set it up for her. I just love that! I get random pics of my family, my vacations, my grandkids, etc. When I'm stuck on the phone on hold, they flash before me. So, if you took lots of digital pictures as suggested, they could be included.

If she is a desk at home person, I love the gold plated "Lucky Four Leaf Clover" paperweight that a friend gave me once. I always think of her when I see that.

Love the James Avery idea (ring .. or bracelet).

A way to really show how much you appreciate her help might be to see if she's interested in your flying there to visit her after she's been there several months (and it's not in the middle of their snowiest time). Check Fare sales regularly and you'll find a crazy good price to make it doable even if just for a weekend.

I always say "memories make the best gifts." Take a day and spend together, just the two of you, your treat.

A.,
Take a digital camera and take photos of some of your favorite girlfriend 'haunts'. Plus take current photos of your clan; the area where you and the girlfriend live. Some shots of famous Dallas landmarks, etc. Then buy her a digital frame and place the camera card within it. This way she can be 'close' to all of you by having these picture slideshows at her office or home to remember you, the good times in Dallas, etc.
We've done this for friends and they loved it. That way you don't have the bother of a scrapbook and all that work.
God Bless,
Bev

We lived in Denver for two years. Boy! The winters there are long. Things don't get green until May. Daffodils and tulips bloom in mid-April. It's not warm until after Memorial Day and nights get chilly right before Labor Day. So, maybe something cheery for the long winters?? A parka? A pair of Uggs? Send her daffodils in a pot in February (when they bloom in Dallas)? I do like the ring idea from a previous poster.
