Going Back to Work?? - Pueblo,CO

Hello Moms!
I have always been grateful to be able to stay home with my two little loves. Unfortunately, things are not going well on the work front with my hubby and I need to make some money to help makes ends meet. I am heartbroken to leave my kids with someone and am seeking advice from others who have had to do this.

I have never left my son for more than 5 hours and that was to report to jury duty. He's very much a mama's boy and will only go to sleep for me, so I'm worried about naps. My daughter was going to go to preschool in the fall, but that may be out if she has to go to daycare. I also feel guilty like I am failing them by not raising them 100% by myself, you know?

I'm not a salesperson, so I don't think work at home jobs selling products would work for me (I've tried 2 in the past).

Thanks mamas!
J.

do you have a friend in a similar situation who would swap babysitting with you for free? you watch her kids a few days a week and she watches yours a few days. i find that my kids often behave better with other kids in the house because they're too occupied to pick on eachother. i haven't tried it on a long-term basis, though. maybe once they got used to seeing eachother a lot they would start to fight like siblings, i don't know. but anyway, it might be a good solution for you. also there are many daycares that also offer preschool during part of the day.

J.,

What skills do you have? Can you find a venue to work from home? I am NOT in ANY way insinuating it is bad to go back to work!! We are all being hit by the economy, so I applaud your courage and strength. Do not feel guilty. You are helping to take care of you family -that is never a failure.

I'm just trying to help you think "outside the box". If you have skills you can help people with and work from home... then you solve your problem - you don't have to feel guilty, but you are still bringing in money to help!

Just a thought.

Good luck!

I understand your feelings as we are going through a similar situation here. Good thing is my husband and I will be working our schedules around each other. That is a plus in our situation as we have 4 kids and child care literally costs an arm and a leg for 4 kids.

Is it possible that you can work part time? That may help you get used to the idea.

The economy is taking it's toll on the best of us and we just have to work with it. If at all possible, can some family costs be eliminated to avoid your having to go back to work? I am looking into all different things here.

Good luck! Remember: you are NOT a bad person for having to go back to work!

Make it a GREAT day!

I second the first response. My husband and I work opposite shifts so that one of us is always home with the baby. This is my first child and it's only been a week that I've been back to work. Honestly, it's hard and I miss my husband and my son very much, but I know that my baby is taken care of and that is our biggest priority right now. Good luck!
