Hi,
I'd like to hire a neighbor hood teenager to babysit. What does one pay for this service these days? Back when I was a teenager I made a Whoppin buck an hour!

What can I do next?

I Pay my babysitter $2 per hour per kid, and I have 4 kids so that is $8 an hour. She is happy with that. Though I can't afford a baby sitter that often.

Hi there I have a 9 year old daughter and I pay about $3 PER HOUR FOR ONE SITTER .. The other charges a flat rate. Also keep in mind the time of day. Mine is usuall a swing shift type so part of the hours my lil one is asleep. Therefore the sitter is paid to do "nothing" but be present. Ask the sitter sometimes they have a "rate" and others will leave it up to you..

It's always tough. I never know if I am paying enough or the babysitter is just being nice because she doesn't know how to say I need more money. I paid 3/hr or 4/hr for 1 kid especially an older child. I also took into consideration the length of time the sitter was over. So If I was gone 2 hours at least 10 bucks or 4 hours I would give 20 That way it's not a complete waste of time. If you really like them pay them more. If it's a long period of time you might do a flat rate.

I pay my 15-year-old babysitter $5.00 per hour for 1 kid. I think that's a completely fair rate and because I pay her enough she's available to babysit 95% of time, even last minute. I hope that helps.

If I have her watch my son all day I do a flat rate of $40. Then I make sure I'm gone for more than 8 hours to make it worth my while.
