We loved all the doctors in the Sutter Medical Group already mentioned.
I moved here recently and I could really use a few recommendations for OB/Gyns in the area. I would prefer a low stress female doctor (because that is what I had last time), but a male doctor is fine.
I like a doctor that doesn't give out a million rules, but is responsive to my questions and concerns. A smaller practice would be nice, so I know that 'my' doctor is probably going to be the one delivering, but having been through labor before I do at least realize that the doctor is only there at the end.
Low intervention is good. I don't want to be put through every prenatal test, and I would like a doctor that tries to avoid episiotomies.
I suppose what I am really looking for is my old doctor who magically decided to move to this town. Sorry about all the specifics, but we are getting ready to try for #2 and 9 months is a long time to spend with a doctor you don't like!
And with a little one already, I would prefer a doctor without constant excessive wait times (I do understand all doctor's have them sometimes)

I too LOVE The Sutter Group on Alhambra. I mostly see Dr. Ketchum and Dr. McClure, but have seen almost all the other doctors and have always been happy with them. I had a high risk twin pregnancy and got incredible care. Dr. McCausland and Dr. Graham delivered my kids. BUT...it may not be what you are looking for. I do think these are all wonderful dr., but it is a large practice and no guarantees who will be on call when it is time to deliver. Also, there has almost always been a wait time (15-45 minutes) whenever I have an appointment, but I generally don't mind because I like the drs. so much and feel when it is my time they don't rush.
I also would recommend Sutter Medical Group on Alhambra. There are 7 or 8 doctors there and I liked all of the ones that I saw except Dr. Graham. Dr. Ketchum and Dr. McCausland delivered my daughter. I will definitely be going there when I am pregnant again.
I highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth McClure. She is very patient and has a calming nature. She is with Sutter Medical Group and is located at:
1201 Alhambra Blvd., #320, Sacto.
The ph# is ###-###-####. Dr. McClure is a friend of our family. Tell her L. Miller sent you! :)
She has other doctors in her practice whom I would also recommend. Dr. Jeffrey Graham (male) is WONDERFUL too. Easy-going and very understanding.
I'm sure you will find a great doctor who suits you and your personality soon! Take care.

I had a doctor in that part of town that I loved. She delivered two of my kids. She is not with our medical plan that we have now, so I had to switch. Her name was Jo Taylor. Her practice was on Timberlake drive. It should not be to far from where you live. She did deliver in downtown sacramento. I hope you liked her as much as I did. She was in a practice with several other female ob/gyns and has 7-8 kids of her own....all hers, she loves being pregnant. She is also into herbal stuff for pms etc.

I can't tell you how awesome Dr. Victor Chan is in East Sac. He is rated one of the "10 Best" doctors in Sacramento year after year. He was out of town when my daughter came (because she was early), but he is in private practice and was incredibly patient and helpful with my million questions at every single appointment. Very low stress, too. Loved him (and I originally wanted a female doctor as well.)
