Gymboree Play and Music - Crystal Lake Location (Or Any Others)

I had my son in the Crystal Lake Gymboree (on Northwest Highway-by Toys R Us) and I couldn't stand it. We went once, and I never went back - not even to get my money. The environment was so unfriendly there and the mothers were like robots. It was a weird vibe, but that being said, I think it could have been a lot of fun had it maybe been run better. We actually ended up going to a park district class for half the price and it was a blast. It was the same exact format as Gymboree (with the parachute and bubbles, etc.), but it was in a smaller setting with friendly moms that live in the area. Also, Cary Gymnastics is a great place for classes.....They're on Industrial Drive in Cary. Good Luck! K.

I have an almost 3 yr old boy and he loves the gymboree. We don't go right now but did for a while. We also drove into the little gym in schaumburg for over a year. both have some music, balls and game. Gymboree has a trial class if you are thinking about signing up!!

Our twins (3 yo boy and girl) LOVED the Gymboree in Vernon Hills at Hawthorne Mall. They both got a LOT out of it. We did the Gold Membership, which is unlimited, and did the free open play a lot, as well as the art class. It was about $1200, and $400 in Gymbucks (spend $400 get $400 free, got some GREAT clothes that actually last). We are pretty middle class (combined income of $150k) and this seemed like a lot to us too, but for the twins it was like $23 a week for both.

Go try another location, I think they are everywhere.

My daughter is 21/2, she will be 3 in May and she loves Gymboree! We just signed up at the CL location and did the unlimited membership for I think $84/month, includes unlimited classes gymobree, Art, music and yoga and unlimited open gym too! I think if you can go several times a week and a open gym or two depending on the week it is a great deal! The art and music classes are so much fun, depending on the ages of child. We also are doing her 3 yr old birthday party their too! I prefer the Vernon Hills location, went to a few b-day parties and it is larger and the owner is great, but too far to drive for us from Cary. I do like the CL new location downtown CL, alot bigger and brighter then the old location on rte 14. That made a huge difference, I didn't care for the old location at all, dark and small. You should go try out a free class, they let you try all the classes for free to see which one you like best. You can get the $35 membership fee waived with a coupon in the Chicago parents or Oaklee guide from your local library, they actually have the magazines in the lobby at the Gymboree location itself too.:)
