Hair Color Disaster

So I was light brown with blonde highlites. I wanted to go a little red all over with no highlites. I discussed this with my stylist for quite a while, looked at samples, etc. Well, I now look like a like I have a giant, left-over, purple, BAD Halloween wig on!! Is there anything I can use to tone this down a little? I can't afford to go back to her and have something else done. BTW, all of the stylists were ooohhhing and awwwwing my hair a little too much. I think they could see the horror on my face!

What can I do next?

Hate it when that happens!!!
I just say wash the mess out of it with a clarifying shampoo like tresemee. It will strip the color fast! Im sorry hun! I did the same thing but I messed mine up ans the highlights almost looked grey and where it had grown out (the dark roots) were a orange color. Its so ugly and it still isn't gone :(

S.,
I'm a former hairstylist. Call your stylist right now and let her know that you are not happy with the results and that you would like her to correct the color for you immediately. She should NOT be charging for this, either. Do not be embarrassed about doing so, this is not your fault. Good luck.

If your stylist won't fix it talk to the manager.... you should NOT have to pay to fix a mistake. I once got my hair fixed.... and a free manicure for my troubles.

"BTW, all of the stylists were ooohhhing and awwwwing my hair a little too much. " - hysterical visual on this BTW!!!

Definitely go back to her and have her fix it! Just tell her you are unhappy with it. She won't charge you for it, any reputable hair salon would not charge you...they want you to be happy so that they'll gain a customer and future customers. You've spent too much money to be unhappy with it!

I had light brown hair w/ blonde highlights and I decided I wanted to go completely brown...she did what I asked but after 2 days at home I hated it, I called her up and she told me to come back, she added some highlights to it and did not charge me...and refused a tip!

Being a natural red head who dyes from the box to cover the grays, it does take about 3 or 4 washes before the 'brassy' rinses out.

She should fix it for free. Red is a tricky color. My sister in law does dark red brown which looks rather purple to me. :(

How long has it been? I'd ask her to fix it for free if it turned out a lot different than you thought it would. Some hair pulls color differently. Mine always looks brassy and darker, even when everyone swears it shouldn't because the dye was neutral. Because of that they should do a test strip first. I haven't had my hair colored very often so hopefully others will have more helpful specific suggestions.

Make her fix it. Same thing happened to me 4 days before my sisters wedding. If I had shown up with the Maroon hair she gave me, my sister would have killed me. They did the best they could it turned out to be a very deep red, not the color I wanted, but it was better than the purplish color I had.

She should fix it for free.

I had the same thing happen i had light brown hair w lots of blonde highlights and wanted to go reddish blonde well the hair stylist added bunch of red highlights and they looked maroon-purplish color i could bring myself to say anything to her but after about a week of washing my hair 2x a day it faded a bit and actually turned into a pretty color. May wanna try washing it several times red is the hardest color to stay in ur hair so it may be easy to wash/fade out

No advice - You've gotten good advice - just lots of sympathy. I absolutely HATE it when my hair is wrong and I hate having to go back and get someone to fix it.
