Wow thanks for asking! I have that issue too, but mine is probably too old and set in. I will have to try. I have decided to never use a home kit again, the last time I did it I got dye on my cabinet. I tried to wipe it off and I thought I got it, but once it dried it was worse!

I don't know if it will work with hair dye but believe or not, I have used Windex to get stains out of my carpet and it works wonders. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try
Good luck!

I got hair dye on the carpet of the master bath of my old house. There was no way to get rid of the stain, so we pulled out the carpet and replaced it with peel and stick tile. It was cheep and easy and ended up looking pretty good.

try taking a little bit of your cleaner and microwaving it for a few seconds. The heat helps!

Yikes!

The Carpet spot remover I use is called FOLEX. It got out black grease off of a brand new carpet, but I have no idea about hair die.

It says it will remove grease, ink, red wine, coffee, blood, rust, food, cosmetics, dirt, pet accidents and "most old stains".

If it does not work, maybe you could patch the carpet? Do you have any of the carpet that was left over? Any of it in a closet that could be cut out and then placed in the area of the stain? Good Luck.

here are two things you can do,

sallys carries a color remover its in a little package just ask for hair color remover, dab that on the carpet it will lift that color and pull some of that up, if it still there take some detergent none bleach and mix in warm water and vinegar. it really depends on how long the stain has set.
2 tablespoon of detergent
2 cups of white vinegar
a gallon of warm water
soak for several hours if needed
this also works on clothes too! good luck!

When I spilled a bottle of RED nail polish on our new off-white carpet, I used nail polish remover. I figured it couldn't look any worse than the mess I had made. It worked and you can't even tell where the spill was!
