I am curious if anyone else has this problem. I am about 12 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have been on prenatals since January. The problem is that I seem to losing more hair than I was before. My hair dresser said she does not see any bald spots and I think I did read that it can happen instead of fuller hair and stronger nails, mine are acutally looking great. I have a lot of hair, so it is not noticable at all....just alarming.

What can I do next?

I'm pregnant with my second child and had some hair loss in both pregnancies, no bald spots but lots more hair in the shower and brush. I also noticed a change in texture last time. My hair was always very curly and became very straight. The good news is a few months after delivery my hair was back to normal and I didn't experience the hair loss that you normally hear about after delivery.

Yes, I had the same thing with my second pregnancy. It went back to normal for me after I delivered. Hope everything goes well with your pregnancy!

I am pregnant with my 3rd and doing the same, a very small percentage of pregnant women will have hair loss and one woman I spoke with said after she delivered it stopped. I don't mind because I have enormous amts of hair! I did not have this issue with the other 2 pgs. I am due about the same time!

Hi J., dont worry I too LOST hair when I was pregnant after everyone told me what beautiful thick shiny hair I would have when I got pregnant! Yeah right mine was AWFUL, dry, dull and lifeless. I am not sure why this happened to me when I was told pregnancy makes hair beautiful but it did. The importnant thing is that my normal great hair came back almost as soon as i gave birth. The hairloss stopped and the dull lifeless dry hair went away. I wouldnt worry about it especially if you have no bold spots ( I didnt either just hair in the shower drain and a thinning all over). Pregnancy effects everyone different and everything changes so it may just be your hormones. Dont worry!!

I had the same thing happen during part of my pregnancy, so never got to have the fuller, thicker hair I read about! I also had the same thing happen after a gave birth. Never had any bald spots, just lots of shedding! My hair also got curlier! Hormones do crazy things to our bodies!

My hair fell out as well when I was first pregnant. It stopped right about 14 weeks or so. And now I feel like I only lose a few strands a day. It happened with my first pregnancy too. I wouldn't worry too much about it its just one of the joys of pregnancy.
