Being that Halloween is on Sunday this year, are people considering Saturday night instead for trick-or-treating? I want to be prepared and I also don't want my kids to miss it.

What can I do next?

NO!!!!! The AJC had this on a blog yesterday, and people were appalled at some townships suggesting it be on Saturday. I live in Atlanta and have heard no mention of anything of the sort. If kids want candy, they need to come ON the holiday! Halloween is on a school night 5 years out of every 7, so I don't know what on earth the big deal is. Take your kids out on Sunday -no one I know of -even in places where Saturday has been suggested -plans to do it on Saturday.

I agree with some of the other posters - Sunday is Halloween so we're not staying home on Saturday nite to wait for trick or treaters even if they do decide to come. I'm glad it's on Sunday so hopefully we can be finished with answering the door before it gets too late.

We always considered the night before Halloween "beggars night", as some kids would already costume up and try to get candy.
As far as I know Halloween is still on the 31st of October and that's the night for trick or treating. It wont come on a Sunday for another 7 years.... this is why everyone is freaking out about it this year, we only deal with it on Sundays rarely. It's no different than having it on a school night pretty much.
I'm pretty sure there wont be as big of a turn out this year since it is on a Sunday most kids are participating in festivals on Friday and Saturday, and lots of churchs are doing things on Sunday night to keep the kids off the streets. Those that are passing out candy will probably be giving fistfulls since there wont be as many trick or treaters. When Halloween falls on Friday or Saturday those are the years that have the most action. The rest of the days are school nights so thankfully most parents have their kids home by 8 so us old people can relax and watch the tube or answer questions on mamasource :)

Call your city offices and ask I did and was surprised at why they will never change it around...

One year Halloween was on the high school football homecoming game night. The city changed trick or treating to another evening and people actually protested and became very mad! I cannot imagine getting that upset over trick or treating...DUH!

Anyway, the city had an open meeting and many people were heard and they announced they will never change Halloween trick or treating to another night. If your kids go out when it's not the official trick or treating time they won't get very much, if anything. People just won't answer their door or participate if it's not the right night.

The powers that be in Chatham County have declared Saturday trick or treat day. So if you live in Chatham County, that is when they are trick or treating.

I'm only visiting this area, but it depends on where you live. Some communities get together to decide if they want to trick or treat on saturday when Halloween falls on Sunday. Talk to neighbors or city officials. Be a good neighbor and see what the mojority wants. If it doesn't matter to you which day, be sensative to others feelings.

Hello~ I would do trick or treating on the actual day. With it getting darker ealier, just prepare your family. Finish up school things, eat dinner and go out as soon as it'd dusk. That way you're ready and it's early. Also, depends where you live. We have Monday and Tuesday off, which I think is crazy, but that's just me. We'll enjoy it!
