Halloween Theme

I used to do that too, L.:-) One year, we did a dog theme (Clifford and Blue) and another year Monsters, Inc. (Sully and Mike) although those were expensive costumes that year! My friend with 3 kids did Peter Pan (Captain Hook, Peter Pan, & Wendy). Please let us know what you decide - it will probably inspire others either this year or next. Good luck!

My daughter and son are doing a Little Einstein theme. We are doing Leo and Annie since they are brother and sister. I found the costumes on Ebay, a lady makes them in the sizes you need. My oldest daughter said she would be Rocket and I can get a Rocket costume from the Disney Store.

My sister is having a "super villain" theme halloween party. You could do super villains, or even super heros.

Since you are concerned about this being the last year that your oldest might agree to a themed Halloween costuming idea that includes younger siblings, perhaps you could enlist his or her help for coming up with ideas that would include the younger ones. This would give your older child a bit of "control" and might make the "themed" idea last another year or so. I hope that together you come up with something "spooktacular"! Have you asked your son? Maybe he has an idea already as to what he'd like to be for halloween and then you can incorporate the other two siblings into the theme. And I agree with you about the theme ideas only lasting a few more years at best. They grow so fast. Ask your son and see if he has an idea, you never know. Good luck and God Bless.

I know we all have our thoughts on what we would love our kids to do, but sometimes when they want to do their own things, it's almost heartbreaking. What if you have your 5 year old put some imput on the theme. Find out what he would would like to dress as and then sprout it out from there. This may keep him excited about everyone dressing in the same halloween theme for a bit longer.

A neighbor of mine does this every year with her 4 kids-very cute. One year she did the Cat in the Hat-her two little ones where Thing One and Thing Two. They've also done Star Wars-her older kids loved that one! I bet you can look through some of those Halloween catalogs or websites and find some great ideas.

You could try the Adams family. It would be cute!

Good Morning L., How about one of these for a theme, Cowboys, Hobo's, Zoo Parade, Dragon Tails, Clown Circus, Cheer leaders, Your little guy could carry a megaphone. Noah's ark. We've never done scary stuff, wont let my gr kids do them either.
There are several more running through the recesses of my mind this morning but it's to early to force them OUT.lol

I live in Benton Ks, and our DIL and I set in our driveway on Quilt covered hay bales, dressed as country bumpkins. I have Tiki torches lit, a chimennia (can't spell) burning and I always ask for a song, dance or joke from the kids. They have a blast coming up with something.

Have alot of fun and you might be surprised with your little man. He may have so much fun he will still want to go with a group theme a few more years. I had a little boy last year come as a Washing machine. Big box painted white and lid up cloths arranged around his face opening. His treat bag was a tide box, Was absolutely adoreable.

Last year in my neighborhood, one family were the characters from Scooby Doo and another family were different super heroes (that my be a theme your son will still like when he is older).

You could do a nursery rhyme theme--

- 3 Blind Mice
- Hey diddle diddle (if you all dress up- cat w/a fiddle, cow jumping over the moon, little dog, dish and spoon)
- Humpty Dumpty- Humpty, King, King's men, King's horses
--- or of course there's other characters-

- Wizard of Oz
- Star Wars
- Peter Pan
etc....

I am a SAHM of 3 ages 7, 5 & 3 So Halloween has always been fun for us. I'm not sure the sexes of your children but I have done a Fireman and a Dalmation before, my daughter wasn't born yet. Maybe you could do a Fireman, Dalmation and a Police officer. Since you are an Army Wife you could always do branches of the Military or some type of Army Theme that way your oldest would still enjoy being a "REAL HERO".

What ever you decide I'm sure the kids will enjoy their Halloween. ---Good Luck My Daughter is going to be Tinker Bell and my middle son wants to be a skeleton and my oldest hasn't picked yet....So no theme here this year. My Daughter made the cutest Raggedy Ann one year. Last year she was a 50's girl, that's a theme you could do.---J. C

One year, my mom forgot halloween. She took different color cardboard and made us crayons! You could use boxes and make them a washer, a box of soap suds, and dryer sheets. Or, a christmas present, a xmas tree, and a mini santa claus.

I am a big Halloween fan. I also used themes as long as my two children would let me. We were circus theme, witches and a black cat (I have a girl and a boy); but my abosolute favorite was Pinochhio, Gipetto and Figaro. I was Gipetto, my son-Pinochhio, and my daughter- Figaro the cat. There are so many other characters. How about Little Red Riding Hood. We did that one as well. I never bought a costume during my children's years of trick or treating. And I don't sew w/a machine. Glue and hand sewing works for me. It was a love of adventure and imagination for me. Good Luck.

I don't know if you have boys or girls, but I have 1 of each and last year my nephew dressed up with us and they were football players and my daughter was a cheerleader. It was very easy, cheap and cute! Worked for all ages, 9, 2 & 3

My friend with a family of 5 went as "The Incredibles" last year and as a group of friendly pirates the year before that. I'm sure whatever you do will be fun and memorable!

We saw this at Disneyworld one year. Willy Wonka and the OOMPALOOMPAS(sp?). It was great! Or a couple of sports stars and a Referee.

I always wanted to do the whole family as a Happy Meal, each person being one thing. We never did it and I still wish we had, unfortunately the boys are older now and won't dress up.

How about the 3 little pigs and you the big bad wolf, different candy bars. there is any easy pattern for m&m's, they could be zoo animals and you the zoo keeper.

Insects: a bee, a ladybug & a butterfly. Happy Halloween!

We have done three blind mice. Little Bo Peep and sheep. Farmer & farm animals. Crayons. Cowboy/cowgirl & horse. Insects with flower. Missouri Tiger, Cheerleader, and Football Player. There are endless ideas and lots of good suggestions. My oldest is 8 and we are having a bird theme this year with a flamingo, chicken, duck and peacock. Good luck & Happy Halloween!!!

Have you checked out this months Parents Magazine? They had some really cute and easy to make costumes for the entire family, ie dress everyone as a different indgredient for BLTs. My 2 boys are going as Bob the Builder and I might talk my husband into dressing like them too.

Hi L.! Your request didn't indicate whether you had all boys, all girls, or some of each so I came up with a few ideas and you can sort through them based on the kids' gender.

I like this idea! What about a Star Wars theme? Princess Leah, a wookie, that thing with the large ears. I personally don't know anything about the movies (b/c I've never finished watching one), but a family in our old neighborhood did this & it was so funny! The dad was Luke or whoever Harrison Ford's character was. Anyway, that's my suggestion.

How about puzzle pieces that fit all together? It is more clever than cute though.

I'm thinking using cardboard from a large box to cut out the pieces and paint them. You and your husband can join the fun too!
