Has Anyone Tried Jazzercize?

I recently quit LifeTime Fitness after many years there. I just wasn't going. I never felt truly comfortable working out there, and didn't like the type of exercise classes they offered. I was thinking about trying Jazzercise because I am looking for good old fashioned aerobic dance. (I don't like "Boot Camp" or Pilates, etc.) I want to feel like I'm dancing and have some FUN. Has anyone tried these Jazzercise classes, and is it fun dancing to great music? Thanks.

So What Happened?

I tried the free Jazzercise class (LITH location) and loved it. The ladies there were so sweet and welcoming. My 5 year old had a great time with the lady in the playroom. I went again the next day and had the same experience with different staff. I signed up and plan to go all the time. Fun music, good instructors, nice people. Just what I was looking for. Thanks to those who recommended it to me.

I used to go in Huntley - take Algonquin and cross RT 47 (Algonquin Rd. then ends) and to the left is a street - I believe Wolfe and there are some offices there - that's where I went. I stopped when I was pregnant just b/c of my lack of motivation, but am wanting to get back into it - it was/is really fun.

Have you tried cardio-karate? Upbeat music, wide variety of excersices, never boring. Focus Martial Arts in LITH is great. I also believe there is Jazzercise in Cary, off of Cary-Alg. road in the industrial park. I heard that was good.

I am typing to you right now with a sore butt, thighs and abs from yesterdays AWESOME workout at Jazzercise! It's so funny because all of my girlfriends laugh and say it sounds like you would show up to find a bunch of old woman in spandex jamming out to the 80's...and it is everything BUT that! The music is current, the moves are easy and you literally feel like you've just danced around for an hour and leave there soaking wet and feeling great that you just got an incredible workout that blends cardio and strength training. I would strongly encourage you to check it out. A lot of times they'll even let you come check out a class at no cost to see if you like it before you join. Go to jazzercise.com and check them out, I'm sure they have a location near you. Good luck, it's a blast!

Yes- I tried the Jazzercise and I absolutely loved it!! I used to go when it was at the Roller Rink in McHenry - not sure where they moved to now. But since I have had knee surgery I am just not up to it YET anyhow.

It was a ton of fun and even though I have 2 left feet I felt like I was actually capable of dancing- well until I got home and tried to dance one of the ones I thought was sexy for my hubby and fell! I am turning red remembering how my hubby laughed so hard at me- in good fun of course! And now I can laugh also!

I think the best part of it was I did not feel out of place there like I had at the gym. At Jazzercise there was people of all sizes and abilities so I felt more comfortable there and not as self conscious.

I you do decide to join I hope you have a ton of fun like I did! I know I always felt great- even if a little sore when I left!

I have been doing Jazzercise for years, including throughout my recent pregnancy, and can't say enough good things about it. It is the only fitness routine that I have ever stuck with. It gives me a chance to shake my butt for an hour a few times a week. The choreography is great and the teachers can show you how to do the moves to get the most benefit. My suggestion is to try a couple different classes in order to see which teacher you like best because that is what is going to keep you coming back. Good Luck and have fun! -C.

Hi C.,

One of the moms in my moms group goes to the Jazzercize in Woodstock and absolutely loves it. I tried it once as a mommy/daughter thing for my 1st daughters daisy troop, it was fun & a good workout.
