This really has nothing to do with kids, but I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of those steam cleaner mops for floors. They say you can use it on ceramic, hardwood, and even carpets and rugs. Just wondering if they really work.....Thanks girls...

What can I do next?

I am about to get one my 2 co-workers have one and LOVE it!!! If you buy it from there infomercial (sp) I believe it is cheaper (800)603-7306 or (800) 346-9846 see which number has a better deal, from what I heard from one of the reps I talked to the specials they run go by the 800#. Also if you talk to a rep it is cheaper to order then doing it on line, shipping is cheaper. Good luck!!! I am ording mine right now as I speak!!!

yes, I have an h20 mop and it works remarkable. however, it does take quite a bit more time, so I only use it occasionally for deep cleaning. not practical for everyday messes...

This is maybe going to be more information than you're looking for, but I think some of it bears mentioning. We have the Steam Shark model. We run a candlemaking business from our home, so as you might imagine, the wax tends to get all over, being tracked around on shoes etc (the "crumbs" of paraffin), which then gets ground onto the floors. The Steam Shark thing absolutely melts/absorbs it off the floors. (this was our main reason for buying it, period) Although I should note we have pergo style "wood" floors throughout, so we tend to use a bath towel to wipe up any excess moisture that forms from staying in one spot too long (to melt the wax). Works like a dream.

I had one and I hated it. It took forever, you have to go really slow. It took about 3-4 times longer to use that, instead of a regular mop or hands and knees. The only thing it is really good for is getting things like dired jello off your floor. I gave it away.

I have one and like it. I purchased mine at Kohls.
It kind of gets hard to push after the pad gets wet. The thing I don't care about, the handle doesn't swivel so it is hard to do corners and behind things.
I don't know how it could be used on carpet.

I don't know if anyone can answer my question....
I'm wondering where to find new pads. Mine is getting pretty dirty and I even wash it after every use.

My sister has the "shark" and she loves it. She can't believe how well is cleans her floors. She said it is also nice that you just put the fabric pieces in the washing machine, and can re-use them, so you don't have to keep buying things for it. Also, it is much safer with kids and animals to avoid using heavy cleaning agents. Hope this helps!

I have one and love it! We have white ceramic tile (which I hate) throughout our kitchen, foyer, back hallway and 1/2 bath and it would take me literally hours to clean it. Our first cleaner had some problems and eventually broke but we have had our second model (a newer, updated model) for years now. I would definitely recommend it!

Got one for a gift.....cleaned my hardwood floors and my laminate. Aside from needing to get every little movable speck from the floor ahead of time (vacuum really well first) it works great.

Bed Bath & Beyond has one, used it for 6mo. before the motor stopped working, make sure to send off all warranty papers. Not recommended for carpet, also the velcro cover should be washed carefully, not to ruin the velcro one time of washing, it never wanted to stick to the mop again. Lovly, kind of a good idea, does'nt work long, and the pad falls off every time you move the mop. Sound frustriated, you get the picture. $100.00 priceless

I have one and it works pretty good. I have a hann. I still use a mop once a week but use the steam cleaner almost every day. If you get one be very careful. My girlfriend accidently burned a spot on my floor.

I don't have one but I've been researching this also, I found a lot of negative reviews on the Shark, mostly that it is cheaply made and that it leaves the floor very wet/slick. I haven't made a purchase yet but this is the model that I was thinking of purchasing:

http://www.amazon.com/McCulloch-MC-1275-Heavy-Steam-Clean...

It has excellent reviews and seems to be much more multifunctional because you can even use it to detail your car and since I'm expecting my first child, I'm expecting that my car will need a steam clean eventually. It even is powerful enough to clean your outdoor grill which I can't even imagine doing. I have wood and travertine floors so there are a lot of chemicals that will ruin my floors so I really need this and many people also stated that this model can steam for much longer periods of time then others that I guess run out of water and need to be refilled? Like I said, I haven't tried it but Amazon has reviews for every product out there so read up on those before you chose something and pick something that will suite your needs. Good luck!

I just got one for Christmas, but terrible housekeeper that I am I haven't used it yet. I was thrilled to get it though because I hate getting out that bucket and mop that would leave pieces of spunge all over the floor. Glad to hear it is good for hardwood because we are changing our linolieum (sp) to hardwood this spring and I would hate to not be able to use it. I hear they are wonderful, maybe I'll have time to use it this weekend.
