DO NOT DO IT! It's not worth it, and most of the time, they charge an astronomical amount! I would look into your local community college!
Hi ladies, I'm hoping to get into medical transcription from home until I can afford to finish nursing school with 3 kids in daycare. Has anyone done the online transcription programs with Career Step or Allied Medical School? They have pretty similar pricing, I'm just curious which one would get a better review! Thank you!

This was about 8 years ago, but my husband went through a course like this and finished and it was a scam. After you finish the schooling they tell you to send hundreds of letters to doctors offices. I can tell you those letters just get thrown out, I have worked in a couple medical offices and have seen it first hand. I really wouldn't waste your money. If you are interested I do know someone who is hiring and they may train you, but it is not a stay at home job.
Had a friend work for one of these online schools. She quit after about 6 months when she figured out it was just a scam.
Just my two cents,

I'd be leery of them, check into what Tarrant County College offers, they have lots of online courses or some where you only need to check in for an initial consult and then take your final exams in person - when I took telecourses many years ago, it was all self paced and then I'd go in at my convenience to take the exams, they were administered in a resource center. Or maybe Phoenix University or DeVry or one of those that you know is legit.
