I have a pack n paly that needs a home. I'd be thrilled to GIVE it to you (or anyone else who needs it), I just need it out of my garage. It's by Osk Kosh and has a bassinet insert. Let me know if you want it.

There is a place called Kids N Things on the SW corner of Eastern and Sunset. Suzette the owner is wonderful. She takes in used and new clothing, toys, and furniture. You can find just about everything you might need for your baby there. She opens at 11am M-S. That is where I have gotten everything I needed except the diapers and wipes. Good Luck. and Congrats.

Freecycle and Craigslist are great resources. Definitely check them out. I also shopped at the Children's Orchard in Henderson on GreenValley and Pebble. They are a consignment store with lots of good things your baby will need. Also, you can sell things there for store credit, which I've done, as well. They have lots of sales and club savings where they email you with sales. You might also want to check out local garage sales. You'll find a lot of little odds and ends.

I did not get a cradle swing for either of my boys. If they don't have it, they'll never miss it. I just didn't want to waste the space with one. I see nothing wrong with getting a used one, though, if it will save some money. Also, instead of getting a regular high chair, I bought an adjustable booster seat for my second. It was only $35, and it's portable. It will also last you from 3 months til they are out of boosters.

Do you know about Craigslist.com? You can find so many things on there very reasonable! Also, I think there is a mommy club in Henderson, maybe you can find some other moms with hand-me-downs. As far as a nursing hood, check at simplicity.com, or just google nursing hood pattern, you should be able to find some kind of pattern, or sometimes I will just find a piece of clothing I already own and kind of make a layout of a pattern with it, I've done this with dresses for my daughters. Also, let me know if it's a boy or a girl! My son is one and we are always growing out of this or that!! Oh, also check Target for clearance bargains from time to time, they have great deals!! Good Luck and CONGRATS!!:o)

I have a few items I don't use from my son and daughter...I can sell them to you cheap...I have a bathtub that is also a changing table works great ...still looks new. I also have a flutterbye swing that is still perfect as well. Oh and the FP cradle aquarium swing is still great used...I have one (sorry can't part with it yet) I used it for my son and am using it for my daughter now. My son is now 18 months and my daughter will be 5 months on the 22nd. I can tell you unless you can really really afford it...buying everything second hand is great. Most things you get have only been used a couple times...I just recomend washing what you can and sanitizing what you can...only thing I will not buy second hand for my kids is bottles and pacifiers. The nursing hood patter you can most likely find online someplace ...if not joanns sometimes has great sales where the patterns only end up being $2.00. Sorry I don't have a pattern. I have seen the hursing hoods and they look like a simple sew.
Hope this helps...if your interested in some baby stuff I can send you a list of what I have for sale and pics...just email me.

I am in Vegas. I am a member of Freecycle.com. They are all over the country. You sign up and receive emails daily, usually about 30 emails. They give away things all the time. I often see baby items. The only thing is, you request an item, so do others. You have to wait to see if you are chosen. If you are chosen you have to be willing to go to whereever that person lives to pick up your item in the time frame given. I love it, I have been in it for about 5 months. I have gotten alot, I have also given away alot. Check it out. It doesn't hurt. For example I have gotten 2 complete twin beds, an oak movie cabinet. And lots of clothes for my family.

Something to think about. Hope it helps!

Check on Craigslist.com and see what people have to offer. you can also post an ad and ask if anyone has anything that they no longer need. You can also ask your church and if your not a member ask a church that is close by if they know of anyone with extra things.

Craig's list is a huge resource for getting baby stuff. If you are in Las Vegas, here is the link http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/ Otherwise search for your city (or nearest city) via google. I bought a crib off Craig's list last year for $50. It looks absolutely brand new. The same crib at Babies R Us was $400. I don't see any reason at all to not get a baby swing off Craig's list. You either get lucky or you don't with the motors. I have this swing http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=245229... and I really like it. I had the ocean wonders one with my first son and I hated it. The mobile never worked (we returned it 3 times and gave up!) and I banged his head on the mobile a few times getting him in and out. The one I have this time, you can move the mobile out of the way. And the mobile runs on a separate motor than the swing and that seems to help them last longer. I would recommend starting with a few "big" items - like a crib, maybe the packnplay and a swing and then get other things later. Otherwise you end up with all of this big, single use baby furniture and no where to put it. I did that with my first baby and the second time around, I goodwilled most of the stuff because there was nowhere to put it, I didn't use it much and I was tired of tripping over it. If you have a dresser that is a good height, you can buy a changing table pad and just put it on a regular dresser. You don't need a special "changing table." There is a lot of creative marketing to sell tons of stuff to expectant parents but you really need very, very little. Diapers, sleepers, a good breastpump & bottles if you intend to breastfeed, and somewhere for the baby to sleep. Everything else really is optional.

Good luck to you!
