Find yourself a pediatric gastrointestinal doctor and get an appointment asap. These docs can give you the answer to your concerns. Most insurance companies will cover these doctors too. My younger boys (9 and 4) have stomach problems as well and I swear by my specialist.

Hope he feels better soon!

Not to scare you..(and i am not a doc and this is just an expample) but my neice has had this problem since she was really little. like she really didnt eat alot of food but had cramping everynow and again. but yet it was either a flu' or "stomach thing" according to docs. well at the age of 9 (about 8 years after it started) they saw a blockage in her intestine's like poop for miles.. it took until now to diagnos and still working on resolving. so please dont do like my sister and take one docs opinion.. it could just be a flu.. but push the issue. persist and persue. alot of things are hidden under other thing.s good luck

Hi E.,
It may very well be a flu or intestinal bug like gastroenteritis which is very uncomfortable, but my daughter had a similiar problem where she was eating things that would make her cramp up terribly from gas. Is he passing alot of gas?
Has there been a change in his diet,or since it's around the holidays, maybe he ate something that is not agreeing with him,and it's causing him pain.Maybe he's developed a lactose intolerance.
If your instincts are telling you diffrent, there are certain things they can't diagnose with an x-ray or blood work.Go get another opinion if you're not satisfied with what you're being told. There are things like intestinal blockages,Chrons' disease, diverticulosis, all these can hurt.Demand them to do a sonogram or to see if the diffrent parts of your sons colon are normal. My daughters wasnt. She was severely constipated, but we didn't know that because she was making small bowel movements. Three parts of her colon were abnormal. She's now 11 and she's fine. I am not saying this could be the problem, they're just possibilities the doctors dont mention. Follow your instincts, and if it continues, definitely pursue by any means necessary. Also if he starts vomiting and develops diarreah and runs a fever, have him checked for appendicitis.
I wish you luck and i am sure everything will work itself out.

You need to have your son see a specialist right away. It may not be the same, but I was once in your shoe and my daughter pediatrician she wants attention or doesn't like school, come to find out at age 4 she had a stomach ulcer which was about to burst.

my daughter has been having the same problem since the summer. she would complain of a stomach ache for a few days and cry on the toilet either telling me that she couldnt go or having diahrrea. At first I thought it was stress of starting kindergarten, but she complained again a few weeks ago. I took her to a gastro last week, and he basically told me that it was either: a. stress or b. too much junk food, which my daughter does not eat too much of. I dont know that I believe that. He did offer to do an endoscopy, but she was sick over the weekend and is now on antibiotic(they will have to wait 6 weeks now). Wish I could help you, it sounds like we are in the same boat!!!
