Help Finding Petite Clothes

I recently changed jobs. I used to wear scrubs all the time at my medical job, but now I need to find business clothes. I am having the hardest time because I am short and slim. We have gone to several clothing departments that have a "Petite" section, but they don't have any clothes my waist size. It was so embarrassing the other day because the only pair of black pants I could find was in the little girls section and they don't look very professional.

What can I do next?

You did not mention whether money was a concern or where you lived so I am not sure if this helps or not. There is a Haggar outlet in the Sam Moon Shopping Center in Farmers Branch that is the only Haggar outlet that stocks womens' clothes. The clothes are $10 each. They have very small and very large clothes and I saw petite sizes last week from the closing of the Gainesville store. It is definitely a hit and miss. The workers are very nice and I call often to ask what has been received in womens. I wear mediums and have to get there as soon as the stock comes. They stock layered clothing with matching jackets and professional attire. Steinmart also has a petite section and online shopping is great! Good luck.

Prior to having my daughter, I had the same problem...and I am currently trying to get back there! LOL!! Anyway, I have had pretty good luck at Petite Sophisticate. I know there is one located at the Allen Outlet Mall. Good luck!!

Ann Taylor Loft (and probably Ann Taylor) carry petites. Also Talbots has petite stores and Eddie Bauer carries petites in their catalog for most of the items they have in their stores.

Try Ann Taylor Loft - a bit pricey but absolutely wonderful clothes that last! Great styles to pick from. Great for Petites!

Cheers!

Hi G.!

My sisters and I are also petite (a.k.a. short and slim). We are all professionals and usually buy our clothes at Bebe, Banana Republic, Neiman's Outlet and Saks Outlet. I'm with Jodi. Although they cost a bit more, they are well worth the investment. We usually buy timeless pieces because they are such high quality and can endure the wear and tear. So, we are with Jodi on this one! Good advice, Jodi!

Good luck!

Have you tried Nordstroms? Even if it's not petite, they will tailor the length for no charge if the item is full price. For the right fit, you may have to pay to have the waist taken in, but I trust their tailors to make the piece look very good.

Hello, Have you tried Kohls? My mom is short and very slim and that is the ONLY store she has had success. Hope this helps.

If you want quality clothing in your size, you are probably going to have to shop at more high end stores like Neiman Marcus and Bebe. The clothing in these stores runs smaller in sizing. Also, you probably need to look into a tailor.

Neimans does have a Last Call store at Grapevine Mills as does Saks.

My other suggestion is that you find out what your sizes are in these stores and then hit eBay.

I hope this helps!

I am a petite size also though it sounds like you need really small sizes. I don't know if these places have super small sizes but they have petites and they work well for me (I'm 4'11 in height): JCPenney (catalog has much more stylish clothing so I order rather than look in the store), Talbots is having a great sale right now, Lands End and LLBean, and the Gap is now selling petites on their website. It's been hard for me to find great clothes in stores so I tend to order via the internet and you can usually find coupons for different websites by searching with the store name and the word coupon.
