Help ! I Don't Want to Return to Work Full-time When Baby Comes !

I am due to have a baby in early August, but like most others, am not looking forward to going back to work. My boyfriend and I, who are in the process of purchasing a home, both know that I have to work with the car and mortgage payments. I thought about watching children from home, but I'm not sure how many kids I'd have to watch to make it worth it. I saw alot of responses to similar requests having to do with sales, I am not good at sales ! I wouldn't mind going out and helping host childrens parties or things of that nature. Does anyone have any ligitimate decent ideas ? Also, I do not have the kind of money it takes for some of these work at home companies where you have to put out cash, there is just no way that can happen. Thanks !

What can I do next?

Hi-
I feel the same way, there was no way I was going to work fulltime after my kids were born. It was a decision that I made, and my husband agreed with, and we make it work. I dont drive a new car. We rent. We do without some luxuries, (alcohol, movies, eating out, etc) but its worth it to be with my kids all day.
I was working part-time in the early mornings. And then I started working over nights on the weekends. It wasnt easy, but we needed a little extra money. Now, we are okay, and I dont have to work, right now.
I also did babysitting in my home. Its a LOT of work to do that. I have two kids of my own and I'm frantic. When I added two more, even though they were older, I nearly lost my mind. But, other moms I know do it, and have no problem.
The way I see it, is that my kids are only small once. And when they are 5 and start school, I'll be able to go back to work (part-time lol) and we'll get a house, get nicer cars and begin to live a little better. But, for now my priority is with my kids and doing what is best for them. And that is to have their mom 100%.
I hope you can find a way to make it work for you!! :)

I saw your message about wanting to find a home-based business. I started mine with Arbonne skincare about 6 months ago. This company is rated #1 with the Direct Seller's Assoc. and has been around and growing for 27 years. The products truly are amazing and their baby care line is the best!! I love that make my own hours and can be home alot too!!
My team is doing great, I have already promoted to Area Manager and my next promotion, I get my own brand new white Mercedes-Benz! This is a completely legit company. Now is the time to jump in. I will help you get started and show you how I have been successful. There are opportunity meetings and trainings that are FREE and I have not lost any money on anything with this company!! I've only made a bunch!! Also, if you have anyone else interested, I can set you both up to start your own team. Call me at ###-###-####. J.

J.,

Have you heard of Scentsy "the Authentic Wickless Candles"? It's a safe alternative than candles. Scentsy is a decorative warmer that use a 25 watt bulb to melt the wax. It's not hot to the touch and you can leave them on all day and not worry about something burning. The company has been around for 3 years and is growing daily! Just to give you and idea of how fast we are growing, is we had 632 consultants sign up in the month of January. Majority of our consultants is on the West Coast. In New Jersey we have 14 consultants and New York State we have 19 consultants. The products sell themselve and nothing is over $25. If your interested in becoming part of this great team please check my website out at

and contact me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com!!!

Thanks,

I was in the same situation and I ended up not returning to work but then found ourselves in a lot of debt. I started babysitting neighbors kids but I really didn't like that. I finally am working at home doing something I love and have the best of both worlds. I don't do sales, I just do advertising and marketing. If you want more information let me know.

HI J.:

Is there any way you can stay home and raise the baby and live off of his income? Some people take a second look at their finances and purchases and come up with a solution. If not, what about if you work at night while he works during the day? Full time child care is so so expensive. Almost not worth going to work.

If you decide to watch kids in your house, there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. If you aren't cleared by the county there could also be issues. You have to have escape routes, a limit on how many kids you can have. There are insurance issues to consider, in the event a parent sues you cause their kid was hurt or bitten by another child. I was thinking about doing that. Changed my mind quickly after all the issues where brought to my attention.

When my daughter was little, I worked at night and her father watched her. I do all the housework and prepared the dinner before he got home. All he had to do was feed the baby and get her ready for bed. It worked well for us.

My opinion:
Get all the bills out and see what you can cut for the time being. Really get it all down on paper OR you can start a journal on your weekly purchases and monthly bills. Get them all down on paper and work on that.

There are several jobs out there where you can work the night shift. Start looking in the paper and penny saver. You will be surprised what you find.

Good luck to you

Blessing to your new bundle of joy!

Hi J.,
I know exactly how you are feeling. I worked at a local elementary school supporting children with special needs when my daughter was born. Once she came I decided that I did not want to go back to work. I didn't want anyone else to raise her and most of all, I didn't want to miss this critical time in her life. Luckily, I found an amazing team and company that allowed me to work from home, be home with my daughter and earn an income all at the same time!!! I am now home with my two daughters, Autumn-22months and Isabel-6weeks, and still earning an income. I love what I do from home and I would love to share it with you!!!

I agree with JoAnn...watching other children might no be worth it. What about a parttime job at a supermarket or like home depot....any store that has a late shift.

Hey J.,
What you are going through is tough. I have a 17 month old and never was able to be a stay at home mom. Currently also expecting another one. Everyones situation is different I as of right now dont' have a chance to stay home. I would love to. I work a 11:30-8 shift. I am home in the mornings with my daugther and see her a few hours before she goes to bed. I haven't missed any moments in my dauthers life at all. The babysitter is raising her basically during the day and when I come home all I hear is "MOMMY,,MOMMY". It is the best feeling in the world and I have noticed that my patience tolerance is higher because I don't see her all day. Also I have off on weekends so I spend all weekend with her and dont' think twice about it.

Good Luck!!!!!! CONGRATS ON NEW BABY!!!!!!!
