I work from home...mostly. I am a WIC breastfeeding Peer Counselor. I do have to make monthly meetings and its best to be at a WIC office on ocassion, but the bulk of it is from home. So if you have breastfed any baby past 9 months, see if you local WIC has this program and get trained. Its very rewarding and I do get to keep my baby with me when I go to the WIC office. Consumer Guide did a report and they were only able to find 2 high quality work-at-home programs that actually helped consumers generate a significant income. These 2 work-at-home programs do require a small registration fee, but this seems to be a legitimate cost as the companies offer a high quality service and have people on staff who are dedicated to helping their members.

I have tried work from home ads in the past which have been scams, I did the work and never got paid. I have also sold Tupperware in the past and had lots of shows, but never made any money.

Now, I found something different. My husband and I have a work from home job, and three kids ages 6,5 & 3. We are Shaklee distributors on a part-time basis. I have a few friends that have tried several things. Some end up being pyramid scams <illegal in most states>, or I even had a friend that choose to stuff envelopes <you get so much per a certain amount; usually like 100 or 250 any less than the ‘quota’ number you got NOTHING: ie: it claims you get 3 cents an envelope, yea if you fill 500 in 43 hours, and mail them back in time – which by the way “didn’t show up in their office on time”> after the mail trips and hours and sealing all the envelopes – she made pennies/ and not able to make unrealistic deadlines – not worth the time. If you are truly serious about needing an at home position, call your local high school or college. <ask for ADULT education>. Take a couple of night classes in things you are interested in. Flowers / cake decoration / medical transcript /writing courses / or your local Red Cross training etc. Many places will have you assist during ‘busier’ times and you can choose your schedule of working. Remember – you don’t have to PAY anyone to find out what their company has to offer or how it “SHOULD” work. GOOD LUCK.

There are many legitimate businesses you can work from home and if you want to give it a try, I highly recommend it. when I first quit my job to stay home with my son I tried those mailing things, where they send you a bunch of letters to stuff and mail out. DONT DO IT! What a waste of time and money. I also remember my mom trying out something where she had to assemble earrings, too time consuming as well for the pay she got.
Since then I've done some research and found that instead of those too good to be true internet companies if you are able to do a direct sales job it's much better. I've been doing spa parties and found it amazing for a few reasons. 1 I get some adult time (away from my kids) 2. I love the products and would not share them unless I believed in them and 3 Since my hubby's sched is weird I dont "work" often, but I'm making enough to help with some bills.
You may want to look into a direct sales company if you're looking at staying home and making some extra cash too. There are a ton out there and I'm sure you'll find one that fits your needs, schedule, etc.

I SOOOO understand where you are at. I am a physical therapist by training - did that work for 16 years - but when we relocated 10 years ago, I just couldn't find a job as a PT that fit our new schedules. Then, of course, when I wasn't looking for anything, I started doing home parties for women. Its pretty much work from home, and I can make my own schedule.
