At 9 months, I started giving her whatever we ate sans salt, sugar and spices. So, I made same food for us but added salt and spices to our food only. She loved it. I also gave her veggies boiled and pureed in a grinder or from jar and mashed fruit - banana, pears, peaches etc usually mashed them with hand or jars during travel. Also gave her white rice - a bit over cooked so that they are mushy and lentil soup - she loved it. Also egg yolk, oatmeal, plain yogurt etc. I gave her egg white after 1 as recommended by her pediatrician. Also avoided wheat products till she was 1. I also mixed some baby formula with dry things like rice, oatmeal and she liked it better that way. Hope it helps.

hi there. I also have a 9 month old and I DO NOT feed her what I eat. I just feel like her tummy is still to sensitive for adult foods.
My daughter also has allergies to food already. I gave her egg yolks to eat and her whole face turned red and itchy. It was a nightmare, I felt horrible because I felt like I gave her to much. (she LOVED it) I should have tested it first and then the reaction wouldn't have been so terrible. It took about 30 minutes and a small dose of Benadryl to fix the problem.
Anyway, when I introduced food, I started with white rice. I knew she wasn't allergic to that, and it was great practice for her motor skills. I also give her tiny cubes of potatoe. (that I grew in my garden!) I can't give her any pasta (she is allergic to wheat) except for rice pasta. I'm afraid to try anything with milk produce in it (yogurt, cheese) because I'm afraid she will have another reaction. Plus, she is just getting used to small pieces. Once in awhile she will even gag on the bigger pieces of potato.
My situation is a little different, with all of my daughters allergies (my 4 year old has food allergies as well)
I just think that 9 months is still very young and their bodies are not ready for spices and milk products. If your not supposed to give them milk until 12 months, then why is it ok to give them cheese and yogurt? I'm just going to stick to the organic jar food, and slowly introduce bland food. That's just me. As the months go by, I will certainly try new things for her, and hopefully get no allergic reactions. (she has a doctors appointment for allergies next week) The doctor said it was ok to try meat at the age of 9 months, but I just think it is to tough on their tummies.
I will be reading your responses to get more ideas as well. Take care!!

I would start with meats and veggies in small bite size pieces, then go to fruit. I would try a little of everything even things you don't like. Like, I can't stand onions (wanna throw up just smelling them) but I gave/give them to my daughter. I have heard that the portions for his meal should be the size of his fists. I'm not exactly sure how many b/c if you have meat with a side dish it can't all be his fist size combined. Seems like too little to me. I give her a little bit more than that for each thing (steak, shrimp, carrots, whatever it is). At 9 months I gave my daughter pretty much everything I ate (outside of honey) I just cut it all in little pieces. I would go to allrecipes.com and cooks.com if you want to learn new recipes to feed him for meals.

feed him exactly what you eat. you can buy one of those baby food grinders. hand crank, easy to wash and to use. put what ever in there-lasagna, pancakes, turkey sandwich grind and feed right out of the grinder.
